  1. Hello guys

As part of my 2002 project, I’m doing a 5 speed Getrag 245 conversion, also I’m trying to fit an AC system.

I might have to slightly modified the transmission tunnel to fit the AC( flattening a bit of the top at the beginning of the tunnel).

with the stock tranny the tunnel modification will not be an issue, my question and concern is the Getrag 245 same size at the  bell housing as the stock tranny?

I don’t want to run into fitting issues after modifying the tunnel and is time to fit the new tranny.

    Thank you

The only reason I can think of is that on the 72 and 73 US cars, by selecting a left or right turn with the T/S lever and ignition off, you'll illuminate the left/right parking light and tail light (for on-street parking in Europe).  That means the turn signal wiring has a lead that's live all the time, and that buzzer works even with the ignition off.

This whole setup was a Federal requirement, so BMW just figured out the easiest way to meet the rule.  Don't think this was required on Euro (or rest of world) cars.

    I think you are correct

  3. Hello guys

I just replaced the Turn signal switch on my 1973 2002, and everything is working fine.

but I notice that the new switch is a little different, I was told that this is the newer switch.

the old switch has a black cable that goes to a part under the dashboard.

my question is, what is the part under the dashboard? And do I need to remove the black cable and add it to the new switch?

here is a picture of my old switch and a picture of the part in question

    thanks

  4. Hello guys

I’m afraid, my car has a coolant leak somewhere on the exhaust manifold.

the car does not overheat it actually runs smooth and on the cooler side.

I did notice  some white smoke coming from the front of the exhaust manifold yesterday and the coolant level is a little low.

I notice this after the engine was cool.

any ideas of what and where the problems is?

BTW last month had a compression test and it was good.

    Thanks

  5. Hello guys

I’m new to the forum but being following for a while.

I got a 1973 2002 couple months ago, in very good condition.

the car was restored several years ago.

iI have notice a gap on the door where the window vent meets the edge of the door, I have search the forum but have not find if this is normal.

so my question is, is this gap normal? If not is it that the window vents need to be adjusted or I’m missing a part like a rubber cap?

    thank you

here is a picture of my 02 and pictures of the gaps in question
