im doing an m20 swap and will be selling my m10. Well cared for, has an e12 head and you can drive and inspect it before you buy.

buying all new seals, headliner, interior bits and trim cost just as much as my paint job on my nevada car. Stuff isnt cheap.

I saw your car there.......Brutal Vehicle! The M1 was as close to the 2002 roots I've seen in many years, to see a V8 shoe horned in was an engineering feet. 

Its such good track car but not enjoyable on the street at all. I think the more and more I built my 1series the more and more i stopped enjoying regular driving. My 02 has awoken that. Its reminded me that Driving doesnt always mean Racing.

Dinan have been awesome. Their 4.6L v8 is amazing. If i could only get them to reproduce or unearth some old deadstock stuff for us.

so in other words $70k....most of these wheel tire packages were +$3k so you can see where the money is, not in vintage parts. I don't think any vintage parts dealer could have justified the expense for the 30-40 vintage attendees out if the 1000+ attendees.

 

as to the attitudes it was interesting to me because 12 years ago when I was driving a digital car I was all about the performance tuning, suspension and big brakes, today's crowd seemed to be all about the 20" wheel package. Dinan Ground Control and VF Engineering had almost empty booths. Big Wheels with tight dresses and Big Boobs were the stars on the vendor booths. I wonder what this means for the future SEMA's........

It was awesome to briefly meet many 02 enthusiasts on Saturday. I typically build newer BMW's and absolutely agree with you on the state of the modern car community.   I have my own goals with cars and I wont hate on anyone for having different ones but there is a lot of stuff going on I have no interest in. A huge lack of originality with most cars playing simply on individual paint and most expensive mods. VIBE motorsport is probably the biggest offender and super trashy. Their branding and work is a joke.

Getting into 02's recently has been a huge refreshment to my love of cars and there is a humbleness to them that is incomprehensible to many people until they drive one. 

One of my cars was displayed at Dinan.
