My second time around with windshields to go, Fuyao again, this time no quality problems. But $285 and 3 hours total drive time... would've ended up cheaper to ship from Germany.
-
Perfect patina + some of the only '68 seats with headrests. Exactly what I need in my 1600Ti!

Another data point... I ordered from Windshields To Go this week in Los Angeles. They didn't have Pilkington, only Fuyao. I drove 40 minutes to the warehouse to pick it up and it had an obvious , large flaw in the glass. They didn't have another one in the warehouse so I will be making the drive again early next week. $285 picked up.

Dimpled front trim!

Gerrit is a great source. Stefan at GTS Classics makes reproduction headrests. Recently there was someone on early911sregistry.org selling 3 genuine Scheel headrests.
Awesome seats!

Thanks, I found one from '67.

I did see that, thanks. I ended buying a pair in Germany, but the orange stripes are awesome.

My gut tells me it's a solid car and a bargain. It's not black paint that was recently applied. It's old goop to prevent rust in a country where they use old goop to prevent rust (and don't use salt). I think if the underside were a rusty disaster you'd see some showing up in the rockers etc.
Everyone grumped that 02 prices were too high. Well, here we are. Now nobody will buy because 'prices are falling'.

Sitting at $7777 with an hour to go.

Even assuming the engine doesn't need work, I'd remove it, detail it, detail the engine bay, fix the wiring that seems to be causing trouble, re-install. It would really bring the car up a notch.

Huh?
I was just trying to stir the pot, which seemed to work since there was no discussion about it before.
Agree on the undercoating. Being from Sweden it could OK in terms of rust but it's really hard to see the state of suspension etc and can you imagine working on it?- 1

An engine detail would have really served the seller well. The rest of the car is so clean. I'm especially impressed with the interior. The gray cloth looks original, which is incredible, and the original door panels are in amazing shape.

The early cars don't even get the love here, much less out in the real world.

The guy on e9coupe.com is names Markos (Marcos?) and the wheels he had redone look great. I would message him on that site. It might take a while but he is a nice guy.

Trying to get my 1600Ti back on the road after 40+ years and discovered that the cylinder head is missing a little chunk because of corrosion.
I’m trying to keep this car as correct as possible so I need a 118 cylinder head from ‘67, ideally Sep / Oct / Nov (car has a Dec 8 build date. )
Thanks, Michael

Looking for a pair of seats like those pictured (pictures are from Pelicanparts thanks/sorry).
These are Scheel 400 Rallye— no big shoulder bulges. Condition of fabric not important but they have to have hinges like these.
Prefer SoCal or New England but anything considered. I have other interesting seats to trade if interested.
Thanks, Michael

Stefan has a great reputation, and it’s easy and fast to get samples from Relicate.
Here’s a very nice source in the UK—

I am getting my 1600Ti back on the road and since they are relatively rare here, I'm going to try to use Solexes as delivered by the factory. The car came to me with Webers which were put on almost immediately after purchase for racing but I had a set of Solexes rebuilt with oversized throttle shafts. Fingers crossed.

The Gert Hack book is pretty easy to find... though never an English version that I know of.
No more Pilkington windshields......

Yes, $300 for shipping + around $200 for the windshield. = $500. Which is why I didn't do it.
But I ended up paying $285 + 3 hours of traffic and some hassle. Depends on how you value your time.
