  1. I am listing my 1971 roundie for sale. It is stock and purchased from a woman who had not driven it since 1992. I began the restoration and not even a month in was given the opportunity to purchase a 1972 tii that I didn't even know they had in the garage. As much as I would like to do both projects it is just not realistic. I am selling the 71 to help fund my tii renovation. I started the project and someone will need to finish it. Here is a list of what has been done.

    • Removed old rubber brake lines and re-installed Irelan engineering braided lines
    • Removed rear hard lines and replaced with new
    • Replaced front calipers with full rebuilds from Ireland Engineering
    • Replaced rear brakes completely (all new)
    • Drained gas tank and put in fresh gas
    • Drained and flushed radiator
    • Oil Change and filter
    • New Oil pressure sensor (just in case)
    • New gas lines
    • New brake hoses
    • Rebuilt solex carb (runs great)
    • Had original wheels sandblasted and powder coated

I am sure there is a list of things I am forgetting. The car starts and idles nicely. I have only driven it a short distance as the tires had a flat spot from sitting. The newly powder coated wheels come with nice (80%) set of tires. I just ordered a rebuilt driveline from Portland DL which will be included with the sale. The engine has a few oil leaks which will need to be sorted out. Also the rear diff should probably get a drain and fill. I am asking 3500.00 as is which represent what I currently have into the car. Call Adam at 509-954-9117 for more detail. I live in Spokane WA.

  2. Thanks for all the great advice gents! I got lazy yesterday and will be going under today to start the rear brake line switch. I will sink my teeth into the oil leaks a little later this week. Can most of the oil leaks be fixed without pulling the engine? My mechanic skills, although improving, are probably a 6 out of 10. Hopefully I can handle all the gaskets here at the house as I really don't want to use a shop $$

  3. Thanks for the replies. I installed the new emergency brake lines today and everything went together nicely. Tomorrow I will continue with my brake resurrection. I have already installed the new braided lines on the front and will do the rears in the morning. The access for this looks like it is going to be really challenging! Any tips?

  4. I have been trying to get the rear passenger rear brake drum (new) on for 2 days!!?? I replaced the rear shoes and have no fluid yet to the new expander. I have my eccentric adjusters working nicely and ket cannot get the drum on. Any advice here would be helpful....

tapped from the bottom so as to "square up" with rubber hammer and still no love.

  5. Hello all, I am trying to find a local bmw shop to work on my 1972 BMW 2002tii. I would prefer a shop that is familiar with our type vehicle and has experience fitting 2002 hoods and fenders. My car is in fair codition bodywise but definitely needs hood and respray. I am going to stay with the original agave color. would be willing to take car to seattle if necessary. any good leads?

  6. I have not had chance to call Ireland. I did a search a found a thread on this topic. It seams as if most rebuilt calipers are now shipped with longer (non-OE) stems. I now wish I would have pulled out my stems prior to mailing in my cores. Called napa and they said they have them. I am heading there now to see if they have ones that are a bit shorter. it appears as if this problem is more pronounced with the folks running 13 inch wheels like myself. I will report back.

  7. I have a 1971 bmw 2002. I started this morning on changing out the front calipers. I chose to order a set of refurbished calipers from Ireland engineering, which came to me in like new condition. I put them on with some new braided brake lines. Everything looked nice and neat until I went to put my wheels back on. The bleeder nipple(outside upper on caliper) now hits the inside of the rim? Do I need a shorter bleeder stem? Surely I don't have to now run wheels spacers? stock 13 wheels on car ....

  8. I did purchase some fuel line (the cloth covered braided style) and it appears as if my car requires two sizes. The line I bought seems to be a good replacement in the trunk area for the gas tank to plastic hose pc. Under the hood the it seemed to work for the outlet of fuel pump to carb intake. Unfortunetly the pc where the fuel line pokes throught the fire wall, goes to the fuel filter then from fuel filter to fuel pump is a larger size? is this right? Is there two separate sizes?
