    Well...... the passenger side floorboard was completely gone... cancer all the way up the trans tunnel. Frame rail was weak. Realllly weak. I explained all this to the jersey shore transplant. I guess with the amount of skin color changing chemicals in his head he didn't understand. I told him $500 was me being generous as the motor was WEAKER than the frame. He held tight to his "its a classic" I held to its falling apart. 800 was the lowest he would go. So I burned some serious amounts of diesel home without a 02...... DAMN IT......I want a 02!!!....(insert temper tantrum here with raging vulgarity). The search continues...... blah.....

    The road trip begins at 12pm....I truly appreciate al the opinions. I now have a long list of things to inspect when i get there. I am going with a open mind to see what he has. I figure a opportunity to do some research to see how bad everything is on her. I will update. I figure worst case sceenario, i buy her bring her home and sell her piece by piece to you guys..lol We will see what happens from here........

    Budget is open currently.... id love to spend under a grand on the car and then drop 1-3000 into it. I do LOVE to wrench on my stuff. I drove old 2 stroke motorcycles, old diesels, I am ok with wrench time. Body work will be mild at best and accomplished by myself and a few buddies (Bud Weiser, Heine Ken, and Mr Coors) I think this may be a good way for me to waste some money and time and learn the evolution of the 2002. I am going north tomorrow with intents to buy, BUT I WILL be searching for Hidden rust and any signs of serious problems. Maybe this will be the parts car after i spend some time wrenching and find a better option. I know I am in lust with her but I think i will be able to make a educated decision after all your posts thanks again.

    Sooooo.... With all these opinions I guess the only thing to really do is get there give her a once over fire her up, and go for a ride. I will be going tomorrow and will let everyone know if i bring her home....THANK YOU ALL for your opinions. if ANYONE thinks of ANYTHING else please let me know....

    Update.... Seller called and said he installed a battery and vehicle is running and idling and he is awaiting my test drive tomorrow...

    I guess maybe I am blinded bu the desire to own. What make you guys feel shes too rough??? any specific points that my desire to own is blinding me from ..I agree it is rough but what is it I am missing to make a statement like wouldnt take it for free? Im just looking to make a good decision here... And yes this would probably be considered by most on this forum to be a BEATER. thats my goal fun weekend racer i wouldnt cry over bouncing off the curb lolol

    I do have a garage but hardly ever get to use it with the wifes car in there. I understand shes rough. The $700 price point is where i think the seller wants to be. I will be trying for less of course. Like i said not looking for a show piece more like a quick spray followed by some parking lot racing with the boys. I appreciate evryones ideas and oppinions KEEP EM COMING>

    My first Post...I'm so proud..... I've been lurking for awhile un registered. Dreaming of the day I could get my first 02 .... I think i found it. i plan on a WELL USED weekend racer that is daily driven during the summer. Perfection in body work is NOT a key element for me more presentable than show quality. 2 hr ride to go see her. Here is all the info I have: car was in po family for 20 years. welded closed sunroof as the car was raced at new hampshire a handfull of times. 3236 weber. stock trans. stock rear. daily driven for 2 years then put to bed for the last 18 months. P.O. says it took a charged battery and she fired and idled. I asked about smoke he said he didnt see much. no color defined. WHAT DO I DO ????/? How much would you pay?????? HELP PLEASE THANKS
