  3. Changed out the Diff today for a 3.7 so much better on the open road drive shaft hoops
  4. Haha Is this the lock strips? the black insert or is there something else I need?
  5. Car has carpet now, also mounted a fire extinguisher for the hill climb this weekend
  6. Update- The car whet on the dyno for a tune, we got 108kw@w at 6400. This was the same dyno that saw the old m10 at 78kw@w
  7. Its raining in Rotorua today so I didn't get the car out side for some photo's, but whats a Project Tread without photo's The front leather seats out of the 318ti The back seat is installed out of the ti as well. Driver side Drivers view More engine pics out side pictures All the trim back on / lights the cut back rear bumper right side the left
  8. Just mucking around this morning- Polished up the trumpets of the side drafts connected the gauge lights up- not to sure about the blue back light
  9. Once I get it back out side I will take some more photo's, The interior is not finished the door cards are a bit manky and I have spent the money for the carpet so it maybe a little while away Update- I got given a speedo out of a E30 today, so I have modified it to go in place of the 2002 mech one. I very much doubt the car will ever get to 240km
  10. Got the front and rear windows in tonight. After alot of swearing because I couldn't get the rubber insert in the window seal. I made a tool out of a 9mm spanner. Then it only took seconds to install the insert. The insert that caused me all the trouble converted spanner insert tool Still got some wof left front window in
  11. The car is starting to come together. I got some rubber inserts for the flares.
  12. Its was 90% masked up before I dropped it off- I guess thats cheating
  13. I dropped the car off to the painters at 2:00pm and it was back home at 6:00pm
  14. I not expecting a minter as this is not a resto project, But I hope it comes out tidy. I want to take it to hill climbs and track days. Plus I'm not the best at looking after cars. Anyway today's progress report- Got the inside of the doors and boot painted. Removed front and rear glass. Put the boot and doors back on
  15. I would have it tried if it had been fitted to the E36
  16. I have sanded back the first coat of primer and now have add the second coat. Slow work this part of the project I will sand this back on Thursday as it is off to the painters on Friday
  17. I have used both the diff and gearbox out of the 318ti. The factory E36 5speed is a 1:1 5th I used the e36 drive shaft. I had to relocate the hanger bearing mount and shorten the front section of the drive shaft. I removed the filter circuit out of the 2002 tacho to get it to work on the electronic ignition. The speedo is the only thing not working, but VDO do a electronic speedo that will use the e36 speedo sensor in the diff and can be mounted in place of the 2002 speedo with a bit of work.
  18. I am going to cut back the rear bumper, so some of the mounting holes needed to be welded up.
  19. Started on the panel beating on the weekend. A friend is going to do most of it for me, I'm just doing the donkey work for him.
  20. Installed a brace for the front chassis next to the rear control arm mounts. Bit of a token brace with all the bends in it, but will be better than not having one at all.
  21. I've probably done about 500kms in the car since Thursday. Shot over to Pukehina and then to Tauranga today. The only problem I have had is the throttle is not returning correctly sometimes. I think I may have to change the diff as the engine really screams at 100km.
