  1. I'll be sure to drop you a message when delivery takes place Mike. I have an LSD for my 2002 but it's from a 2002 not an E30. I'm pretty stoked to get working on this project. While everything is out I ended up buying all new bushings for the front to the rear, Tie Rods, Ball Joints. Bilstien HDs H/R Springs and St Sway Bars (Thanks Blunt!) . It's gonna be a heck of a build when it's done. Also talked to Classic Daily about a turbo option and obviously planned on ordering the mounts from them as well.

    Thanks!

  2. Well the time has come! I got a really good deal on a wrecked low mileage 1991 318is that runs and drives so I'll be performing the M42 swap which will eventually be Turbo'd. Car will be delivered in a week. I'll send pics when car comes in. Anyone have any good recommendations while swapping an M42 engine and drivetrain?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  3. Hey thanks for the welcome! It actually came with the Hanes and Macartney books in the trunk, as well as the center grill! Only missing the drivers door trim.

Thanks! My family likes to save as many BMW orphans as we can!

Wow clean car, looks great! Thanks for the info, that interesting, wonder how mine got to that location.

Eeeh its a little cheesy in some spots, but can be saved.  I must be too dumb or wanted a roundie too bad, that was one of the reasons the PO wanted to get rid of it.

We actually found it in GR! We are from the Holland/Zeeland area.

I use to race sailboats in Holland. Great place to be!

  4. This really must be the season for suspension refresh! Not even a month ago I put ST springs, ST bars, Billy HDs and rebuilt the front suspension... Most of it went smoothly.

Read the suspension refresh Tutorial for lot of tips.  If your lower control arms are bent/tweaked at all, buy new ones and forego the headaches of bushing replacement. The big torsion bar bushing in the front of the subframe is easily pulled into place with the torsion bar itself as a handle... generously lube the bushing with disc brake grease and it pops right into place.  Easy.

This '75 handles like butter now.  It's not go-kart-like, like my '71 on chopped springs and Billy Sports, but way smoother for daily commuting.

Ed I can't wait to get this all installed. I was hoping it was going to be this weekend but it's looking like it's gonna be in a couple weekends. I'll fill you in how she handles. I seriously can't wait.

  5. I've been emailing him about the very same set-up. I plan on doing it next year and saving up over the winter. It should be a totally different car. I'm also a little weary of it all since I've never done anything like this before and want to do the work myself if I can. I am curious about the difference between sports and HDs. I know they're stiffer, just how much stiffer?

I've read the Sport are wayyyyy to stiff for daily driving or road driving. I went with the HDs. When everything is on I'll fill everyone in on how she drives. Looking forward to it! Next big purchase is gonna be a lightend flywheel and clutch. My clutch is starting to slip in 2nd.

  6. I have that setup and love it. But I will say the biggest change to my ride came from changing out all the bushings, which I got from Blunt in a kit.

I ordered all of those as well including ball joints and tie rods....litereally everything under the car. All of this will go on as I do the springs.

  7. Washington license plates and the car appears to be at a local Washingtonian's barn (Tim - many locals know the guy). However, the ad states the car is in Colorado. Old photos perhaps? Do your research folks...

Well I won the car on Ebay but I just asked him how old the pics are. Does anyone have Tim's info? The guy I am buying it from his name is Steve.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  8. You mean like this ? I used Pop Rivets and a 3M auto bonding agent to attach the rears. Obviously some cutting on the wheel well to remove and modify the inner fender. No experience with plastic hood or deck personally although I have seen some race quality stuff that was pretty flimsy.

This is exactly what I want! Beautiful!! So really all you gotta do for the rear is cut the wheel wells larger then pretty much glue it to the old rear panels?

  9. Found a guy in TN who sent me 2 differentials to pompano beach FL for 350 bucks. One happens to be an LSD and the other is Open. I was really hoping he was going to send me 3 but can't find the 3rd one.  The fact I have a perfect working LSD makes me still happy. If anyone wants an Open Diff let me know I'll have 2 after I swap this LSD in.
