Hello. I have to part with my beloved ’72 BMW 2002 tii. It’s black (painted over the original light green), 4 speed manual, with sunroof. It’s a great car that draws tons of compliments. It’s in good shape, but isn’t perfect. It can be used immediately and look pretty good, but in the right hands it could be easily converted into a show-worthy tii. $9,500 or best offer. Willing to help with shipping if necessary. Located in Chicago.
A couple pictures can be seen here:

The good:
It’s a California car (I bought it in San Diego in 2000) with very minor rust. As far as I know it’s never been in the snow.
The black paint looks pretty good from a slight distance and the body is solid. Only minor chips and dings.
The interior was redone at some point and still looks great. The seats and beautiful Nardi steering wheel look almost new.
The engine was rebuilt in ’95 and has less than 50,000 miles on the rebuild (estimated).
The engine runs well and feels solid. Transmission works well too. The rear end was redone in the late ‘90s and is tight.
All four tires are relatively new (a couple years) with less than 3,000 miles on them.
Newer Sony stereo with iPod hook-up. Older Boston Acoustics speakers.
The car comes with a custom cover, several repair manuals, and a few other bonus items.
In the 8+ years I’ve had it I’ve driven it less than 3000 miles a year. I’ve had it serviced by two experienced 2002 mechanics and they were both impressed with the car’s overall condition.
The not so good:
If you get right up next to the car, you can see the chips, dings, and cracks in the paint.
There is some rust in the rockers (in front of the rear wheel wells). This isn’t a major repair and is quite common (I’m told it’s caused by the poor drainage from the sunroof, which can be fixed).
The carpets and headliner look a little worn.
The fan/vent system for the interior doesn’t work well. The fan blows fine, but the controls that direct the air and the temp don’t function well.
The engine doesn’t hold a tune well. It doesn’t get to the point where the car won’t operate, but it will ping if more than ½ throttle is used. Immediately after tuning it will run perfectly for a day or two but then (I think) the timing slips a little and the pinging prevents hard driving until it is reset. I am confident this can be remedied relatively easily by an experienced BMW mechanic.
