  1. OK, so the wife says that 6 years is long enough to keep the old seats. I took the rails to adapt 1999 Acura integra seats.

These are good for parts or repair. Passanger seat is not bad. Drivers seat has a broken upright support. Again - No Rails.

I am in Scottsdale, AZ. Not interested in shipping these. If you want to come and get them, they are free. Also have the rear seat that came with the car. Probably from a Jetta or similar car. Folds down in the middle.

  2. I'm ready to put my front end back together and have a couple of questions.

    1.   Do the mating surfaces of the Ball Joints need to be lubricated to prevent corrosion?

    2.   How much do I need to torque the new ball joint to control arm nuts?( I'm replacing the original riveted ball joints.)

    Thanks for the help.

  3. As a follow-up, thanks to the advice I received from Ireland Engineering, I installed the Carter 2-4 psi Rotary Vane fuel pump. As soon as the carb primed, it started right up. Runs better than ever. As a side note, we took a 160 mile test drive and got 29 mpg. The best I was getting before was 18 to 19 mpg. I have been throwing gas away for 9 years.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

  4. I put in a new Weber 32/36 imn my '76 about 4 months ago. Ran great for about 200 miles. Now it will cruise just fine but will die if I let off the gas.  I replaced the Electric Fuel Pump at the same time. The new pump was advertised at 4 to 6 psi, but it tests at 10 to 11 psi.

Have I blown something in the new carb?  Also, any recommendations for a different fuel pump(Rotary Vane or other)?

  5. Finally found time to install the 123+tune yesterday. Install went pretty much by the book. Only hitch was looking for the "green light" through the window on the outside of the body. ATTENTION!! the green light will be on the inside of the distributor, under the rotor. Other than scratching a bald spot on my head for half an hour, I finally reread the book for the 25th time and the light in my head went off. There it was - the green light. She started right up. Went for my first ride in the evening. The engine runs significantly smoother with the curve native to the distributor. After the New Year, I will start playing with custom settings. So far this is a great improvement. I may have done something better to the car over the years, but I just cant think of any. Thumbs up!!!

  6. The Weber 32/36 DGAV in my 1976 standard 2002 is tired. I am looking at replacing it with another of the same model.

Question -  Is the Redline kit sold by Blunttech jetted and set up correctly for a stock engine that lives at 1200 feet(Phoenix), but travels occasional  to 5000 or even 7000 feet?

Or, should I be looking at buying from someone who will re-jet to another prescription?

    Thoughts?

  7. Just finished with the Oil Seal, All new hoses from W&N, new water pump, New Thermostat. Had the radiator rodded out. The radiator shop said that it needed the rodding, but that for it's age it was in very good condition.  Can't wait till this weekend to drive it and see if the leak is gone.

The mechanic said that  the PO had installed the last oil seal on a slant and that the Speedi Sleeve was necessary.

  8. My Front Crankshaft Oil Seal is leaking badly. My mechanic has suggested that is is a good idea to find a "Crankshaft Pulley Sleeve" in case there is a groove in the pulley.

I am having no luck in finding any thing like it on the internet. Am I calling it by the right name? Any advise on whether this is necessary or not?

Also, he suggests that we replace the Water Pump and Thermostat while we are in there, and, having the radiator rodded out or recored while it is out of the car. Thoughts? Any thing else while we are in there?

    Thanks for the help.

  9. Every now and then a 2002 will show up at the Saturday evening car show at the Scottsdale Pavillions.

I usually go for a ride EARLY Sunday mornings. Last week I went to Cordes Junction, the week before I went as far as Ajo. I enjoy seeing the sun come up. Most weeks I do 150 to 200 miles.

Any way, I'm in Scottsdale if you would like to touch bases.
