  1. What is the proper procedure to remove, inspect and reinstall the brake light bulbs on a 1976 2002?
  2. OK, so the wife says that 6 years is long enough to keep the old seats. I took the rails to adapt 1999 Acura integra seats. These are good for parts or repair. Passanger seat is not bad. Drivers seat has a broken upright support. Again - No Rails. I am in Scottsdale, AZ. Not interested in shipping these. If you want to come and get them, they are free. Also have the rear seat that came with the car. Probably from a Jetta or similar car. Folds down in the middle. Collin Mesapioneer@gmail.com
  3. Thanks for the help. This will be the project for this week.
  4. Is it possible to replace a leaking differential gasket while the differential is still in the car? 1976 2002.
  5. I'm ready to put my front end back together and have a couple of questions. 1. Do the mating surfaces of the Ball Joints need to be lubricated to prevent corrosion? 2. How much do I need to torque the new ball joint to control arm nuts?( I'm replacing the original riveted ball joints.) Thanks for the help.
  6. Good thought. Is any of the closed cell foam resistant to gas?
  7. I am installing a new DGAV in the '76. The old DGAV has a black gasket that should seal the factory air cleaner to the carb adapter. The gasket is hard as a rock. The new carb did not come with one. What are others using to seal this connection? Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the input. It is now on my list.
  9. I replaced the exhaust on my '76 about 8 years ago(Eberspracher from Blunt). My car did not have the exhaust bracket to hang the pipe on. After about 40K miles, is this something I should worry about, or just let it be?
  10. I have one that came off the line 44 in front of yours. Chamonix, blue interior, no A/C. Close but on cigar. Good luck in your search.
  11. Needing the rear seat for a late model 2002(74 to 76). I can pick up in Arizona or Southern California. Mesapioneer
  12. Finally found time to install the 123+tune yesterday. Install went pretty much by the book. Only hitch was looking for the "green light" through the window on the outside of the body. ATTENTION!! the green light will be on the inside of the distributor, under the rotor. Other than scratching a bald spot on my head for half an hour, I finally reread the book for the 25th time and the light in my head went off. There it was - the green light. She started right up. Went for my first ride in the evening. The engine runs significantly smoother with the curve native to the distributor. After the New Year, I will start playing with custom settings. So far this is a great improvement. I may have done something better to the car over the years, but I just cant think of any. Thumbs up!!!
  13. Great Idea from my end. Question? Buying from Europe vs USA, how much of a headache will we have if we need warranty service? Collin
  14. The Weber 32/36 DGAV in my 1976 standard 2002 is tired. I am looking at replacing it with another of the same model. Question - Is the Redline kit sold by Blunttech jetted and set up correctly for a stock engine that lives at 1200 feet(Phoenix), but travels occasional to 5000 or even 7000 feet? Or, should I be looking at buying from someone who will re-jet to another prescription? Thoughts?
  15. 105, 1976 w/Weber 32/36. Everything seemed very comfortable. Next time I took it out, the Guibo disassembled itself. Glad it wasn't going 100 when that happened.
  16. Just finished with the Oil Seal, All new hoses from W&N, new water pump, New Thermostat. Had the radiator rodded out. The radiator shop said that it needed the rodding, but that for it's age it was in very good condition. Can't wait till this weekend to drive it and see if the leak is gone. The mechanic said that the PO had installed the last oil seal on a slant and that the Speedi Sleeve was necessary.
  17. Not good practice, but, it would be really nice if our oil pan came out that easy!
  18. My Front Crankshaft Oil Seal is leaking badly. My mechanic has suggested that is is a good idea to find a "Crankshaft Pulley Sleeve" in case there is a groove in the pulley. I am having no luck in finding any thing like it on the internet. Am I calling it by the right name? Any advise on whether this is necessary or not? Also, he suggests that we replace the Water Pump and Thermostat while we are in there, and, having the radiator rodded out or recored while it is out of the car. Thoughts? Any thing else while we are in there? Thanks for the help.
  19. Every now and then a 2002 will show up at the Saturday evening car show at the Scottsdale Pavillions. I usually go for a ride EARLY Sunday mornings. Last week I went to Cordes Junction, the week before I went as far as Ajo. I enjoy seeing the sun come up. Most weeks I do 150 to 200 miles. Any way, I'm in Scottsdale if you would like to touch bases. Collin
  20. Last year I replaced the 185/70-13's with a set of Hercules RAPTIS TR1 tires in 165/80-13 from Gunnells Tire in Mesa, AZ., If I remember, they were $68.00 each at the time. Yes - They are Chinese. Yes - They do handle much lighter than the 185/70's, I imagine this is how our cars handled in the 70's. Yes - I just like to drive my car. It's not for show. I don't race it and if they don't suit your car - that is OK too. Isn't it wonderful to live in the good old USA!
  21. Sunday before last, I was 150 miles in to a 175 mile drive when the charging light came on. I stopped and made sure that the fan belt was still there. It was. Drove the rest of the way home with out any other incident. Monday I put the battery charger on all day. That night the fully charged battery showed a replace condition on the battery tester. Went to O'Reily's the next day and exchanged it(By the way, the salesman mentioned that all of their batteries now have a two year replacement warranty. No pro-rated warranty after that.) Cleaned the battery cables and hooked everything back up. The charging light was still on. Removed the alternator(8 year old NPR 85 amp) and took it to have it tested. It passed the test? Came home and cleaned all of the contact points with emery paper, exersized the push contacts. When everything was back together - No Charging light. Charging at 13.8 volts Moral of the story - Do the easy things first. Don't be too quick to just replace parts. This Sunday I will take it for a good drive and make sure it is still going strong. This might be just a wake up call. I might think about buying another alternator just in case. Eight years on a rebuilt alternator isn't too bad though. Collin 1976 Chamonoix Scottsdale, AZ 117 in the shade.
