  1. The best way is to buy the flex-a-lite (or similar) controller (~$100 but worth it). It acts like a relay but runs your fan variable-speed rather than on or off, which is great for reducing battery draw and noise and prolonging the motor life. It also does useful stuff like not running the fan while you're cranking the engine and also leaving the fan on for a bit after shutting the engine off the help cool down (since the water pump has stopped turning). The wiring for those is really clean and they come with the sensor needed, instructions, etc.

I'm running the FAN-PWM-V3 controller and FAN-PWM-TS sensor by Spal. Super easy install and setup.

  2. Lucky,

    Hello Luckyz02,

Thanks for posting the pictures, they look pretty good. Didn't see the air flow meter, is it included with the other '84 ljet parts?

The price you mentioned of 500 is a bit rich from my blood, I’ve been a week or so late on the last two similar setups sold here in the $200- $250 range.

Not sure what's up with my email address getting bounced back from the gmail. I've emailed you through the FAQ, replying to it will allow you to respond to my work address.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  3. I am looking for an early choke button, and rod linkage for DCOE 45s, and a rear stub axle...

I was going to do the 218i FI with the MS II as my EMS but funds did not allow that at that time.

Right on. Unfortunately I don't have any of those parts. I can help you find them if thats what your asking. Are you interested in selling the '84 - '85 318i injection conversion parts?

  4. Pretty hard to tell from those pictures....are there any markings on the manifold? It looks homemade to me... Looks like a T3 flange on the turbo side.

Can you get any better pictures of it?

No markings that i can see. I'll snap some better pictures and post up tongiht.

I pulled it off the 320i due to the exhaust studs seeping oil and the cold side seal being shot.

  5. Not still on the big bolt is it?

    John

Shoot no. I had all the front end bits separated and "organized" or so I thought until I went to reassemble it a few days ago and it was gone. I'm sure I dropped it, kicked it or it rolled into a dark corner somewhere in the garage. Feel like I’ve looked everywhere and no dice, at this point I have to begin working on a contingency plan.

Eurotrash has located one we think is correct. I believe he is going to mail me an extra one he has.

  6. Well its official I have removed the front end one too many times and lost the shim that sits between the subframe and the lower control arm. I know its hiding somewhere close in the garage but I’m unable to find it. Its number 11 on CD’s front subframe image.

Real OEM shows the part to be NLA. Any idea where to source a replacement? I’m desperately trying to get the car rolling this week to begin paint prep in a more ideal location.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  7. I am in Berkeley, CA. I would prefer to find locals who can pick parts up themselves. I will ship if I have to. Lots of these parts are being sold for less than I paid for them or less than they are worth. Good deals!

  9. Your assumption is correct: The IE flares do not wrap around - they end before the gas cap.

Can't speak to IE's Alpina style rear fenders but the box style fender images on their website appear as thought the gas cap is cutout as well as a recess for the bumber.

FWIW I have no personal experience with either.
