  1. The 1/4 panels are tomorrow along with doors, hood and trunk..... unless they got to them today. If that is the case, this should be on the trailer home next week to start the building. I look forward to hearing comments and feedback. So far, I am pretty pleased with the body guys, roll cage guy, metal fabrication guy.
  2. So around lunch I popped back in to see what was up....... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-77-finally-some-body-shop-action-update-august-1st-2013-newest-at-bottom/ The highlights are at the bottom of the new body work blog
  3. SO ........August 1st I stop by with the weekly pocket of cash to settle the account at the body shop and I notice that my car is not in the shop or in the rainy yard. So I wander to the booth and see that the paint mixer is mixing paint........... I step into the booth's open door and see this on the rotisserie With all the seam sealing done, I showed up minutes before they were about to start the final priming stage.
  4. July 24th, I popped by to check how the body work was coming and was disappointed to find the vehicle was sitting out in the yard and no work was being done on it that day, and as I found out, maybe that week. It did look pretty good so I took the chance to get a photo of it out in the sunshine.
  5. The most current pics of progress at the body shop are at http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-77-finally-some-body-shop-action/
  6. UPDATE JULY 10th , 2013 I stopped by like Loomis or Brinks would for a weekly cash drop and was pleased to see that she had a first coat of primer and just needed to be blocked a bit, have the trunk and hood fitted and then off to color. I have opted for #022, which is what I understand is the original color for my car - inka orange. Anyhow more pics are on the blog side of this site at http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-77-finally-some-body-shop-action/ Here is but one of those
  7. body shop pictures in the other blog post http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-77-finally-some-body-shop-action/
  8. So I heard that the car was being blasted today, as a continuation of yesterdays work. So I showed up to see for myself, since I had heard from a buddy and not the shop itself. In I walk to my suprise this is what I see. There are more photos @ http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-77-finally-some-body-shop-action/
  9. I heard from a buddy that he heard my car was being blasted the past couple days and was to be EP'd (epoxy primed) today. Last I saw it looked like this. I figured I had better see this for myself, primarily because I was considering going elsewhere since there had been no progress in about a month. I show up and this is what I see. Needless to say, I was happy as anything. So I shot a couple pics. JULY 10thth, 2013 So I visited the body shop today, July 10, 2013 and I felt like a Loomis or Brinks truck doing weekly drop offs of cash. Anyway, the dings and dents of 39 years have
  10. Holy F......... the body shop is sure taking some sweet leisure time starting on my shell. No additions to the progress blog other than "does anyone know where to cut the strut tubes to shorten them?"........ anyway, just thought i should post something in case someone is checking in. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-50-may-1st-2013-onwards/
  11. Well, I am sure others have felt this pain....... Nothing happening at the body shop. "this came up and that came up" and "there is a car on the rotisserie that is waiting for parts". sigh. The waiting continues, but my patience are running out. I know I can send my struts in to IE to have them shortened, but can anyone just let me know where they cut out the inch or two from the tube? No pics today since it is just sitting pathetically in a shed at the body shop waiting.
  12. Re: the cell, it is 40L.......not huge by any means but then again, I am not sure the original tank size........ 45-50L maybe? Either way, it will clean up the look from under the car quite a bit, with it being nearly invisible from behind. more pics and updates just leading up to it going to be blasted last week http://www.bmw2002faq.com/blog/13/entry-50-may-1st-2013-onwards/
  13. So from May 1st onwards there has been some progress worthy of documenting, if for no one else but me. The concepts is tidy, not flashy (other than original Inka orange) and good handling. Old Progress blog shows a little of the cage and some of the trim and corner marker deletes. I had the rear parcel tray and rear firewall replaced. Previous damage and speaker holes etc were unsightly to say the least. The factory seat mounts were deleted and replace with lower supports to bolt different seats to. The mechanical handbrake was deleted and is being replaced with a hydraulic handbrake wi
