  1. Howdy,

This is way out there, but its worked for me before so I thought I'd give it another try.

I am currently looking for some space to rent in the PNW, hopefully north of Seattle near Everett some where.

My girl friend of 5 years and her small old pug who sleeps all day are looking for something 1-2 bed rooms and a bath hopefully with some storage or garage space for my tools and the occasional carpentry project. We don't do drugs or drink heavily, pot included and we are both quiet hard working people. I am currently in the proses of joining the Local 70 carpenters union, and the girl friend is a massage therapist.

    Budget is $1300/moth.

We actually currently rent from a member of this forum in CA, and have for the last few years :)   I know he wants to keep his name on the down low though.

My union work and classes start in about 3-4 weeks, and ones they do I wont have time to help move the girl friend and all our stuff up from CA so I am under a little bit of a time crunch.

I can also offer up my skills as a professional carpenter/handyman during my free time.

If anyone knows of a space, or has something they would like to offer up you can pop me an email at jeremy q nugent at comcast dot net.

Thanks so much for your time!

    J

  2. I had these listed ones before. Buyer never showed up because of personal matters and I gave him his deposit back.

I was going to keep these for my next '02, but I am having problems with my other rides and I need the money to get my '86 Toyota truck an engine rebuild.

These will need to be picked up. I wont ship. I an willing to drive a ways in CA for extra gas money.

Both seats were tan and got sprayed black with Duplicolor Vinyl Spray. Its now wearing off. As these both should get a rebuild that should not be a big deal. All the hardware is there and everything works and folds. Sliders and rails are not included. Both seats have new Aardvark straps to keep you from sinking through.

Drivers seat has rips on both lower and uper drivers side (left) bolsters and the foam is warn.

Passengers side has no rips and all foam is intact.

    Ill update with more pictures.

$400 for both obo. Please dont low ball me these are worth money and in good shape.

I took them buy my local apolstry shop and they guy was excited about them and said they are worthy candidates for rehab.

  3. Im looking for a set of used turbo flares for my e30.

Almost got a set at the Swap And Show in the Bay Area this year, but they sold out from under me while I made a trip to the bank :(

Let me know what you have.

    Cheers

  4. I have a set of e21 sports seats. They are old and are not perfect.

Both seats are still very comfortable and I installed new webbing straps from Aardvarc Racing so your but does not fall through the seat.

Seats were tan, but I sprayed them black. As they need to be reupholstered that should not be a problem.

The drivers seat has rips and some damage to the bolster foam, and currently has duct tape on it. Other wise in good shape.

Passengers side seat has no rips or any damage.

All the seat adjustment mechanisms work fine. Sliders are broken.

$200 firm. These go for $900+ plus when rebuilt. This is a great starting point for a set of refreshed e21 sports seats. Get after it

Located in San Rafael CA, or SF CA. Pick up only no shipping please.

Ill take some better pictures in the AM, but this is what I have now.

Will bolt into a 2002, or you can fabricate some sliders for a e30 like I did.

  5. We are selling our much loved 2010 135i. This car is a real rocket ship and a pleasure to drive. We have loved every minute of owning this car, but we need to get a truck and have not been driving the 135 much lately. We bought the car used from BMW Walnut Creek. It had been used as a BMW factory driver, and we were the first private owners.

This is the smallest model BMW currently sells state side besides maybe the Z4, with comparisons to the cult classic 2002 model (Hoffman kink rear window). The 135i got the large strait six twin turbo n54 engine and a automatic 6MT transmission with paddle shifters. This engine is very powerful in this small light car, and is an incredible platform for very easy power additions. The automatic six speed transmission is great for daily driving, and is fun for spirited driving when using the paddle shifters.

The car currently has some very minor cosmetic modifications (dark side markers, VMR wheels, BMW OEM black grill, hand made BMW motorsport roundels, and bright white halo lights) but I still have all the original BMW parts that the car came with including the wheels/tires and other cosmetic parts.

The car has NO other aftermarket modifications at all. It has been maintained at Sonnen BMW in San Rafael and has not been touched by any other mechanics.

  6. I did a e21 rack conversion on my m20 2002, but I never really got to drive the car before I had to sell it, so I can not tell you what it feels like. I can tell you how I did it though.

First off you are limited to racks that mount behind the sub frame instead of in front of it. I used a e21 manual rack which I think is 3.5 turns lock to lock. Lots of measuring and fabrication. The hardest part was getting the rack and steering shaft to line up correctly with out the universal joints binding up. I used a e30 steering shaft and column. The e21 and e30 spline are the same size and count so the joints are interchangeable. I cut and welded the pitman arms as well.

Is it really worth the work? I dont think it is if you go with a e21 rack. I think it would be if you were doing a m42 or m20 swap and also switched to a e30 front sub frame like the guys at Condor Speed Shop did for their GRM 2012 Challenge car. Its a whole other leve of fabrication but then you could run power steering as well as swap in a z3 or e46 quick ratio rack. If you really wanted to do a lot of fabrication I think that would be kick ass. Not for the purist, but would make for one hell of a fun car.

  7. Its not that hard at all. I dont know why but the hardest part for me was getting right wires from the e30 engine harness to the correct terminals on the starter. I had to try a few different combinations to get the solenoid to engage and the motor to turn over.

Here is the e30 c101 to 2002 chassis harness. Easy

    325 Harness                                   Function                                 2002 Harness

#1 Blue                                           Alternator                               Blue of Voltage Regulator

    #4 Brown/Violet                              Coolant Temperature             Brown/White

    #5 Black/Brown                              Oil Pressure                           Brown/Green

    #6 Green                                         ECU Power                            Green

#7 Green                                         Coil Power                             Same Green as above

#9 Black                                          Tachometer                            2 Black Wires (18 Gauge)

#13 Violet/Red                                 Fuel Pump                            Direct to Fuel Pump

    #18 Black/Yellow                             Starter                                   Black (10 Gauge)

It will be necessary to peel back all tape from the main wires running across the engine and along the left fender to identify them. Once they have been identified, the other wires can be put aside for now and taped up or cut away later. Identify the Voltage regulator and throw it away since you have a 325I alternator. The electrical part can be tricky, so take your time and identify each wire before cutting. Some special items will need to be procured for this part. Put a 25A fuse in Fuse slot #5 and place a 15A fuse in the line running to the fuel pump from the harness. Also, in the 1987 325I models, there is a plug near the control unit that contains three wires. The black one is for the tachometer. You will use this wire instead of #9 on the round plug. Don’t solder or permanently fix the wires until you have the engine running and in the car, that way you’ll be able to correct mistakes if you made any. Once the electrical part is finished, mount the harness plug to the firewall for easy removal of the engine later on. If you don’t have the factory plug, etc. then simply cut and solder all wires to look as clean as possible. Pull all wires up and out of the way of the engine, but leave them connected. Turn the key and see if she runs.

  8. Sorry guys. Google Chrome really hates the FAQ and does weird things. The FAQ works way better with Firefox. Anyways I accidentally posted this topic twice.

I am going to ask the duplicate post be deleted and copy and paste the responses over from there.

hats your car? was your car?

Well... i feel like im close to the end of my build and im already thinking about the next... one old wise man once told me... "once your done with your project, do you know whats next? sell it and start another one." So guess it might be true... who knows... but yea i think about it all the time... the things i would have done differently. Or maybe even a different chasis... I have been wanting an e30 m3... i dont kno man.. the possibilities are endless... now i feel like im ranting...

Well just post and document i guess...

    Good luck

    Alfonso

No its not my car. Just thought people needed some eye candy if they were going to read all my blathering lol

    Sorry if its misleading

2002 obsession? who would have something like that? just because after having owned it for 4 years i have over 1,800 pictures of my build process posted to pbucket, have installed three engines in it, three brake systems, two suspensions, two interiors and make major changes to the car every winter does not mean i have an obsession!

keep reaching for that next project..it helps keep you sane.

Thanks man. I do a lot of reaching, and it does keep me a bit more sane hahaha

  9. .....not that anybody is looking at this...

Yep people just comment less on the FAQ. I think it is a good thing. Usually the comments are less frequent, but more insightful/helpful. Other forums such as Stance Works you get 25 comments every day, but its usually just empty words and ass kissing.

Your doing really great work! Loved reading this. Keep it up.

  12. If you are into classic BMWs then Bimmerfest is not a very good choice anymore. I am not trying to trash talk or anything, its just an observation I made after attending last year.

I have been to Bimmerfest a few times sins 2007. It was really good while it was still in Santa Barbara. Great venue, very wide verity of cars, good crowd, nice city.

Here is why I did not like the Rose Bowl. Lots and lots of cops, most of the cars were "tuner" cars with 600hp and huge 25 speaker systems driven buy people from palm beach, the whole event seamed more like it was centered around selling large shiny wheels with sluty girls then it was around enjoying cars, and I could go on. in 2012 there were maybe 5 2002s, a and full of e21s and e28s and a few e30s. The majority of cars were e46s, e90s, and e92s with a few e36s mixed in.

If you are into classic cars, and not so into showing off how many LCD screens you fit in your head rests, then the Swap and Show is for you.
