  1. I was told that my 1976 BMW 2002 has a 4x100 bolt pattern? If this sis the case I have found a number fo rims out there for a Honda Civic (4-lug) has the same bolt pattern. The thing I don't know is if there is a specific offset and if so or not what is the tallest & widest tire I can safely install. I'm a real dousch when it comes to tire sizes and things of this discussion so any help one could lend I would apprecite it. for example: + http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-inch-Koenig-4-Lug-rims-4-X-100-4-X-4-50_W0QQitemZ330079860620QQihZ014QQcategoryZ107065QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks!! 2. Hey guys (and gals), Last night on the way home my radiator cracked the driver's side support and wound up creeping into the fan and shreaded both at about 90 MPH!!! What a mess!!! Who has the best deal on a new radiator (supplier & part number would be great) if this one can not be salvaged. I'm also looking into a electric fan as well. Who out there has already gone through this so I can save some guess work as to what electric fan and replacement radiator will work for my application???? Thanks!!!! 3. Thanks for the info guys. I see the point about not being able to over fill it if it is filled to the fill line. However, your input and the service books only call for 1.25 Qts. of fluid to be filled into the tranny. I saw them fill it with 2 quarts before it over flowed out of the fill hole. This leaves me still scratching me head as I see your point as you can't over fill it but the books say different and my tranny now leaks with 2 Qts vs. the recommended 1.25 Qts. By having filled it up to the fill hole that put almost 80% more than the recommended amount. This leads me to believe that once sealed and under pressure it (1) forced out the rear seal or (2) is leaking out of a already leaking seal hince the previously noisy gearbox (low on fluid due to leak??). They are going to have it towed over to a tranny shop tomorrow and will have it repaired no matter what the problem is. They have admitted to overfilling it by 80% or better. "I don't care what kind of a car you drive, if you over fill a sealed gear box by 80%, there is going to be a problem". :0) If anyone has any ideas for a 5 speed tranny I would appreciate it. I just pulled this car out of storage in Arizona a few weeks ago and I forgot how annoying this 4 speed is. I would like to install a 5 speed but I have just got back into the 2002's and I don't know if one is available, where, what brand is best if so, and what the average cost on one is. Any suggestions???? Thanks again for you assistance and suggestions. You guys rock!! Jim ~ Albuquerque, NM
  4. Hi guys, I'm new to the site (registered) but have been following discussions for some time. I have a simple 1976 2002 that I drive every day. I decided it was time to get the tranny serviced and Jiffy Lube does all of my other cars. 30 min later I was off and running down the road with much less noise from my 4-speed gear box. I just noticed a lot of drips now on my garage floor. WOW! I thought, this thing has never dripped a drop as long as I have owned this rocket! I looked in my Haynes book for fuild amounts and it says that she holds 2.64 US pints. These guys put "2 quarts" in there upon service. That is 3/4 of a quart more that what she should hold. I assume it blew out the rear output shaft seal judging by all of the oil on the under-belly; it is all from the shaft back. I'm no mechanical whiz but this is my best assumption as she only holds basically 1 quart and they over filled it by 50%.!!!!! What are your thoughts????? I'm going to call them up and I would like some feedback here in case this gets ugly. Feel free to call me directly if you would like, but post the reply either way. Thanks guys, and what a great site!! Are there any 2002 clubs here in the Albuquerque, NM area???? Jim ~ Albuquerque, NM 505-220-3460
