  5. Progressive rate springs were designed to give a good ride over little bumps but stiffen under hard cornering. This is the opposite of how Bilsteins work. They are digressive, initially firm for excellent turn in, then soften to let the car settle into the turn and absorb bumps. A linear or constant rate spring works best with these shocks. H&R makes a good linear rate spring, lowers about 1-1/4" If you are just going for the lowered look with a little better handling, get cheaper shocks and progressive springs. Bilstein Sports with H&R's is a set up for serious driving.
  6. Progressive rate springs work against the valving of Bilsteins.

However, if you just can’t wait and need to order now you can visit our web site and down load a PDF version from your home computer. 72 pages of parts for your 2002, Bavaria, E21, E12, and E23 model BMWs.
  8. I had a '74 as a winter beater here in New England for years in college. A 50# bag of sand in the trunk and Hakkapelelitta snows and the car can handle most conditions. I eventually got a 325ix, can't beat AWD. Make sure you have a strong battery and your rear defrost works. Arctic t-stat if you are not getting up to operating temp. Put dry-gas in every tankfull. Make sure the choke is working well. Do some ice races up in NH.
