Lotsa of info and picture links seems to have been lost lately. So here is the simple method to modify the upper S14 pan when installing Massive's M2 pan.
1- 1.25" distance from the edge of the upper pan is what you need to clear the threaded bore for the oil vent.
2- On the M2 lower pan, mark a line 1.25" away from the edge. This is NOT where to cut, but you reference
3- Bolt the upper pan on the lower pan with both ends about flush, and report the marks from the lower pan to the upper pan. That's the first cutting line.
4- Bolt the upper pan on the lower pan with the others ends matching, and report the marks from the lower pan to the upper pan for the second cutting line.
5- Cut and disgard the center portion, bolt the small end and the main upper pan onto the lower oil pan, adjust if necessary, and weld.
An S14 oil pump or pick-up must be used for its forward positioning of the suction cup.
This oil pan was designed for M10 and S14 engines fitted in a 2002. It offers tons of clearance all around. You can even move the engine rearward by a few inches for improved weight distribution.
I suggest you cut a gasket from cork or gasket.

M2 oil pans have shipped. The kit now includes a pair of expensive rubber baffle flaps, as well as an aluminum template so that you can easily retrace your own gasket from the material of your choice. Also, I have 10 aluminum spare templates available for 30$cad each.
The minimum production was 10 units and I only had 8 orders. In order to speed things up I still went ahead. The participants of that group buy where very patient as they had to wait for close to three months between payment of the deposit and shipment of the pans. I have two units on the shelves available at a cost of 1200$cad each. If you want one, please send me an email at massivebrakes@gmail.com
Thanks

I heard the fitment problem from a few persons. And it seems VAC won't solve the problem. Oh well. There are better alternatives out here. ?

12mm offset is an BMW e21 spec and the reason why so many people had problems with their tires rubbing on the fenders back in the days since many were using e21 rims. Whatever the rim width with 12mm offset is 13mm more outside than whatever rim width with 25mm offset. Providing both wheels mounted with the same tire width, the one with the lower offset is more likely to rub the fenders.
In short, the 2002's offset requirements are more in line with the e30 chassis than the e21 chassis. Look for et25 ?

Price: $750Location: Montréal
Description:The M2 oil pans fit M10 and S14 engines and are compatible with the S14 oil pump. The oil pan easily clears the subframe and even allows the engine to be moved back. The pan is fully baffled. Horizontal and vertical. The vertical baffles use OEM S14 rubber flaps (included). All necessary fasteners are included.
The M2 oil pans are produced every two years and I have received several requests for a production. The minimum is 10 units and there are already 5 persons interested.
The price is now 1000$cad or roughly $750usd depending on exchange rate. Add 40$cad shipping in North America and the usual taxes for Canadian buyers
Please add your name on Massive's FB page if you want to reserve one.

And if you have pictures of your own M2 oil pan, do not hesitate to post them here or on the FB page
Thanks

Could it be that the engine/tranny combo is not properly aligned vertically? Rear seems too low or front too high. Was the car converted to 5-speed?

To make things more complicated... Neue Klasse1800Ti and 2000Ti struts also have that 3.5" mounting distance, but the geometry of the strut is not the same as for a 2002 Ti or Tii...
Oups. It has been mentioned already. Sorry. I too was thinking of Roy Hopkin's glitch a decade ago...

S14 and tranny here. Still way too much.

It seems that I once bought two very nice S14 for $2.5k each from a reputable shop with trannies going for $300...

Yes, it was mentioned, using e21 vented rotors and Superlite calipers with the correct width and piston size is the 30 year old trick for a Tii. Not working on a standard 2002 as the bolt spacing is different on the struts. Only needing the enlarge the mounting holes on the calipers. If my memory serves me well, centering is not much off.
Massive (actually it is me) now sells brake kits ONLY as installation kits. No rotors or caliper supplied. For the 2002, kit is 300x32mm and floating. It requires 11.75"x1.25" rotors with 8x7" mounting available from Wilwood, Hawk, AP Racing, Coleman and many others. Calipers must be suitable with a 1.25" thick rotor.
What the installation kit includes is
2x black anodized hats w/ setscrew location
16x stainless steel drive-pins and teflon seals
2x stainless steel caliper mounts
2x 1/8npt-to-10mmx1 90° hydraulic fittings
2x OEM setscrews
All related fasteners.

Hi
Yes, Massive has a website and it is outdated by a whopping 5 years ( www.massivebrakes.com ). But you still get a good idea of what I do. For more up-to-date info, prices and parts selection, the Facebook page is more accurate.

PS The twin MC booster delete kit is 4.5" wide at its widest area... As you can see from the drawing I posted, there's also a version where both MCs are positioned on top of each other for even more clearance.
-
If one needs more clearance for sidedrafts, or want to replace a failed brake booster, I offer a twin MC booster delete kit that is compatible with the 2002 bolt pattern as the kit was initially designed for the e30 chassis, and it shares the same mounting bolt pattern. It can be set-up for 6:1 and 7:1 pedal ratios.
Latest version as fitted to an e46 brake tower

I think I have one if needed

I have throttle bodies and fuel rail if needed. ? Intake gasket included.

Nice VW Trophies. Those have a 4 x 8mm bolt pattern, right? ?

Once you have mounted your Recaros, please don't hesitate to post pictures. ?

Hi everyone
Production indeed had started by August 22nd and all kits were shipped yesterday, September 24th. Production was basically four weeks. I hoped I could have done it in three. But, oh well. Sometimes small jobs get pushed by bigger ones. ?
Everyone shall receive their parts by early next week. I made 4 extra sets (four cars / 8 seats) and they are available at the regular price of 180$cad (roughly $135usd) + 30$cad shipping. Steve at Bluntech will most likely have a few sets fo sale too. Purchase Steve's first. Then when he's out of adapters, contact me. ?
These adapter fit all bolt patterns found on Recaro seats.
4 x 6mm mounting
6 x 6mm mounting
4 x 8mm old style mounting (VW seats most of the times - Trophy)
4 x 8mm new style (longer distance between mounting points).
All required fasteners included and they are zinc plated and grade 12.9
Thanks all for participating to Clinton's group buy

2 hours ago, Conserv said:
Yes, assuming this injection and top end left the factory with this block — and that is certainly possible. But, by now, I’ve also seen 1.6-liter heads on 2.0-liter blocks, vice versa, and etc.
When I put “1232992” into RealOEM.com, I get a June 1986 e30, a Euro-spec 325e, and thus an M20. So what is that engine number?

Hey Steve.
1.6 engines were not US models. So, seeing that you are in NY, probabilities that it is a 1.6 are pretty slim. That being said, if you really want to know the whole truth, simply take the engine apart and measure. No big deal, especially that these motors are not worth much these days.

The engine in the picture is clearly a 1.8l late e21 motor with the dreaded K-Jectronic injection.
-
The car is only missing those mirrors, Mark ? I bought some Vitalonis 10 years ago, as well as those with the swivel pods. Much easier to instal with pods.

I used to have TWM TBs and SDS fuel and spark management two decades ago. They worked well. ?

The "race pedal box"
in BMW 2002 and other '02
Posted · Edited by Lee
I developped that pedal box a loooong time ago. I kept the components available for a few years then stopped offering them as I designed a much better booster delete kit that allowed twin MCs and full front-to-rear adjustments. It works exactly like the usual race pedal box and it clears S14 airbox and DCOES. Pedal ratios are adjustable to 6:1 and 7:1
