  1. A couple of follow up questions to those who have put in the E3 control arms and radius rods. I read as much as I could find with the search and archives, so if this is covered, I apologize I did not find it. I would like to do this to my track car to gain the negative camber w/o going to coilovers.

Has anyone used urethane bushings for these? I can't seem to find any and no one seems to mention. The pic from bmw02rally a couple of days ago looks like rubber.

Also did the install require longer steering tie rods as well, or are they long enough already.

Lastly, has anyone also installed adjustable camber plates (like K-Mac, BavAuto, or BMP) along with the E3 arms?

    Thanks for any input/direction.

  2. If you don't mind driving up to Buckhead, I like Buckhead Imports at 28 Irby Ave (across from Henri's bakery) 404-816-9606. They have been doing the major mechanical work on my two for years. They also service Mercedes and Jaguar and it is not uncommon to see E-types getting service. The shop is owned by Jason now who bought it from Lloyd. Lloyd still works three or four days a week and he has been repairing BMW's since our 2002's were new. Everyone there is nice and helpful.

If you don't want to go that far north, check out RWL Imports at 520 Edgewood, just east of Boulevard. 404-588-1624. Bob services Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes and there are usually older 911's and 356's floating around along with 80's BMW's. I have never had my cars there, but they have come recommended to me by several sources and seem to have a very good reputation in Atlanta for servicing older German autos.

    Hope this helps,

  3. I have them in my tii. They are indeed offset. Driver's is offset to the left. This was actually good in my situation of long-ish legs that previously rested against the A/C console which is wider than standard. Plus I prefer to be a bit closer to the pedals than some.

They are around 1 - 1.5" off-center of steering wheel. While I can see the difference, I have never been bothered driving.

  4. Yes, the CF raw materials have been edging up especially over the last year. I read an article in the Bicycle Retailer and Industry News (trade magazine) a few months ago concerning supply/cost/availability/etc. If I remember correctly the two largest users of CF, and why the change in the market, was attributed to the US Dep't of Defense (building their largest newest cargo plane) and Boeing (finally building the AirBus commercial plane in numbers) And from what I can tell when US gov't and Boeing want CF, they get it.

If it's any consolation, carbon fiber bicycle parts have also been moving up in price over the last year, although not quite at a doubling rate as manufacturers have been partially absorbing some of the additional cost and have also been finding more efficient ways to use the CF.

Good luck with your projects, I am glad you are researching and posting your findings. Nice write-up in Part 2!
