I know I am opening up a large can of worms here, but once these ideas are laid out, it might make a good Xmas wish list.

I'll start...feel free to add you 02 cents worth

A) 5 speed from an 82' 320i, 3.96 limited slip, Z4 3.0 litre shifter.

in no particular order.

sway bars, shocks, seats (recaros flofit scheels etc) new tires can transform the feel of a car, as can ensuring your suspension links, joints and bushings are up to snuff.

Now if santa is really good to you.

A hot cam, big webbers, Alpina a4 injection system

These are a few of my favorite things:

Working electrics- lights, charging, starter, wipers

Good brakes- SS lines, fresh pads/rotors/drums

Tight steering- box adjusted, tierods, etc...

Suspension good- shocks/springs/bushings all in good shape

Watertight- window and door seals good

The next luxury items would be a thicker steering wheel, a comfy drivers seat, and maybe a decent radio or deck.

lowered springs, swaybars, recaros. I need the strut bar. Next year I will buy a AS/4 period. I think I have a very nice driver might do some autox. Also have the TEP rear brace and other things not installed yet like dr.292 cam. Way too much money.

the 5 speed/lsd is a great idea. It was one of my first

changes. It positively transformed the car. Lots of bang for the

buck if you do it all yourself. The typical set up for

performance would be sport springs, Bilsteins (HDs or sports

depending on how good your kidneys are), sway bar(s), and

of course, aggressive rubber. I think a decent compromise is

to go with fourteen inch wheels and 60 series rubber. There's

still a lot out there tire wise, and more competition rubber

than for 15 inch. Also consider H&R springs, Bil-HDs, and

Ireland tube sway in front, stock in rear. This will give you a

car that you can carry into the corners faster than stock, but of

course, the ride will become stiffer. Get a ride in one before

making the changes to determine if you can handle the

change.

Naturally, the above mentioned ideas are good ones-good

brake pads/fluid, steering gear up to snuff, etc.

And possibly stock springs with updated swaybars. I have Eibachs, Bilstein Sports and S/T sways and ride is a little stiff for daily use with a 46 year old body :-)

I love my Weber 38/38,my Crane XR3000, and my.050 over high compression pistons, but would commit Harakiri if I had to deal with my header and rattling exhaust on a daily basis. Use the tii exhaust manifold with stock resonator and muffler.

Also, at least where I live, A/C is a must for any daily driver (mine doesn't have it yet.

A very nice example of the perfect mix of features for daily driving and ocassional autoX is GAS2002's car. Maybe he can post a link to his list of mods.

owner is cleaning up the components right now( they have been off the car for 2 years and he is making everything look real pretty from shop grime). 37k total on kugel pump sent to Alpina for flowing, probably for the 300 cam. Complete A4 with correct airbox, and great provenance: comes from BMWCCA will look like this.....instructor 02: well known car in Nor cal for years. Very quick. . Full details , etc to come when he is ready to sell it . Should be within a month, or less.He is a friend and does not follow the Boards, etc- no time with his profession. He was one of my instructors at Sears. I told him I would help him move the unit to a "proper" home. He wants to see this go on a nice tii and be used and enjoyed. I am not sure what he is going to ask for the set up. It is rare because it is complete and in the USA and low mileage. Expect 5k area.
