the first or second transaction is always difficult because you have to explain and educate them about parts. It's smooth sailing after that for me. I call them up,give them a part number by phone while i'm in my underwear. They call me when the part arrives which is 1-3 days if it's stock,7-10 days form Germany. They are open on Saturdays as well and I pay when I pick up. Either way, I dont get dinged for freight.
you still pay freight whether its a separate line item or not. you think dealers get there parts shipped from bmw for free? .
good for you. Like I said. I dont get charged shipping. Maybe dealers get freight allowed what it's dropped shipped I dont know. My dealer gets me excellent prices and service at a fair/decent price. NO SHIPPING CHARGES
i guess i know how parts departments stay open now. enjoy paying too much for parts.

you have to pay sales tax when you buy parts at a dealership in California. what is the sales tax rate in marin county now?
EVERY time i have bought parts from a dealership (usually an emergency) in Sac, either Niello or Roseville, i can't believe their parts departments stay in business. compared to the prices i get from fap99 or blunt, they aren't even in the same ballpark.
i just bought a factory e30 windshield and seal from blunt and paid over $100 less than the price i got from the dealer, even with the dealer's bmwcca "discount".

where the heck are you buying your parts from? please don't say the dealer.
doing a quick check at fap99.com i see a radiator for 300, water pump for 100, expansion tank for 70. you should have been able to buy all the parts from an online supplier like fap99 or blunt for half of what you paid. don't let the dealership rip you off!

I priced out a set of these with Blunt before I sold my 02 and they were $190 a piece brand new.

so no one in northern california has ever gotten their 2002 repainted? guess i'll go elsewhere....

i wouldn't use a 2 poster for storing cars underneath, as the suspension on the car on the lift will be drooping and unsupported, which can't be good for the long term health of the car. for most 2 post lifts you also need very high ceilings, higher that what you would need for most 4 posters.

The paint on my 7 year old restoration is starting to check badly under the clearcoat, mostly on the roof and doors, but the rest of the car is sure to follow. Any recommendations in northern california? the car is malaga, and will likely need to be sanded down to primer because the base is failing. I am in no hurry, so I would prefer it if someone could do the work on the side for less $$. Looking for someone who has painted 02s before. Thanks.
