I was looking for part #8 for two weeks. Finaly called Carl at La Jolla Independent, he had one, cost $40.00 plus shipping. Might be better to buy a whole column. He shipped it right away. I can't complain. Their number is 858/488-1555.

292 is a great street cam I find. Also, I would replace the distributor. The 123 Ignition distributor is a nice replacement. Easy to set up. The curve in all, I’d say, old distributor are worn and advance way too early. I’ve put several in my 6 cyl cars and a friends ‘02. Set and forget.

- HI, new user here.
- After many years of not having a running '02 the body shop is nearing completion. This is a full rebuilt starting with the bare shell of a 1973 Agave 2002. I hate taking a car this far apart but between the rust and previous accident damage it was in for a dime in for a dollar. Now my dilemma is do I keep it stock or do basic upgrades? Most people don't realize how good these cars were stock with just a set of Bilsteins and good tires. But, the siren call of cams, carbs, headers, lowering springs and wide rims keeps calling. Tie me to the work bench! What do people think?
- Uploaded photos but not sure I did this correctly.
Do I keep it stock or do plus 1, plus 2 upgrades?

Current body shop now has completed painting. It’s a two hour drive so I don’t have photos. I’m blasting and painting all the suspension and subframes. I’d much rather do mechanical and electrical work than paint. It’s slow going.
Car was a runner when I got it. Friend bought it for spare parts for his Tii. After realizing it didn’t have any of the parts he needed and it had been hit in the right front hard and repaired badly it became mine. I initially went through the brakes, put a set of tires on it and put some miles on it. Engine doesn’t smoke, good power, trans is good. Oh, I put new factory pads in the front seats, covers were OK, car was from Oregon. But the second coat of paint was coming off everywhere and the rust wasn’t getting any better. Four years later, now I just have to put it all back together!
