So I bought a '76 from CA last year, and I'm in the process of replacing the transmission.
When driving it last summer it felt just bogged down, like it did not want to rev. The engine has been rebuilt recently, FYI.
The exhaust has three components as shown in the photos, one of which looks like a small cat... has anyone seen one like this? Could it be holding back the engine a bit?
My thoughts are to replace it with an Ireland Engineering SS version to let it breath better.

I'm looking for a Tii Exhaust Manifold. Thanks!

Thank you everyone for the advice. Great catch on the blocks needing to move to the front.

My 2002 came to me with a bad 4 speed and am getting ready to pull it and replace it with a 5 speed.
Here is how I have my 2002 positioned on blocks and jack stands. The front is bearing on the jack stands on the frame rails, the extra two jack stands under the cross member in front are backups.
What else should I do to make it as safe as possible? Thank you in advance for the advice.

Interested but new to the forum. Where is your email?

I just received these adapters and they are labeled for an e24.
Will these work with my 76 2002? What is the knob on one side for?
I have a set of e21 Recaros that I need adapters for.

Thank you. There are only two months more of the driving season anyway...

I picked up a 2002 last week (first one in 20+ years). First gear is making a whine/rattle noise and I've already purchased a 5 speed for the conversion over the winter.
The question is this... does driving it right now hurt any other part of the transmission or driveline?
I get out of first ASAP. The other gears work fine with no noise. It shifts into all gears fine by the way.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Thank you! Love this forum.

Found my Recaros, now need adapters. Does anyone have a set or know where I can buy of the factory style? Not interested in the flat ones.
Thanks!

I need a Getrag 245. Would prefer one that works as-is. Send me a PM if you have one for sale please.

Define nice 🙂 They all need to be reupholstered by now. BTW this still has the BMW roundel under the headrest.
It is however the famous SPORT seat and is correct for a 2002. You will need to find a driver seat though.
Thanks, but looking for a set.

I'm looking for a nice set of period correct Recaro front seats for my 76. Open to fabric, leather or vinyl.
Thanks!

Yes they do look finer. Bummer.

I think it is Anthracite Grey Metallic. Thank you for the help.

I have a 2002 inbound – first one in 25 years. It has these on all corners and on the spare. Are these factory rims? What are they called?
-
I looked at this 2002 and was very impressed at the condition. Good luck with the sale, I am holding out for a Mint Grun or Inka one.

Blunt, send you an email.

Has anyone seen an exhaust like this?

It has a Weber carb, not fuel injected. Thank you for the replies.
