  1. Thats insane aye. I remember when I posted this thread I was having offers to buy them at 5K. It just happened that I bought another 02 at that time instead of getting the motor I after. Still happiest with the 02 I scored but one of those motors would have been awesome.

  2. Just to clarify. The grey MSD tach wire gives a small 1Vis heading that increases with revs up and up. And the adapter gives a 12V signal that drops to 0Vs. And this 12V signal that drops is what the tach is looking for? I would like to confirm which sort of signal the tach actually runs off.

Just used the test lamp method. Can't establish or see any flashing. Will hook it up to a needle meter tomorrow for a fine look but pretty sure the current is solid 12V out of the output (white tach adapter wire).

The only thing attached to the coil is the Orange & Black MSD Coil leads.

Could I try using the negative from the coil as a signal to the adapter instead of the negative from the 123?

What about using the positive feed from the 123 for the tach adapter instead of the positive feed from the ignition.

I could try remove the MSD if I can't come up with anything to try.

  3. Huughhhhh this is taking a toll on me I can't get my little head around it.

Okay I have triple or quadruply checked everything that you have said.. The white wire from the tach adapter is fed from the black wire from the 123 which is also fed from the white wire from MSD and is also feeding the black original wire which leads to the tacho which has been checked for continuity. Also taco is getting 12v on the green feeder wire and the ground wire is working fine.  The red wire on the adapter is fed from the ignition power as the picture instructs. The only thing I feel like I could try would be feeding the red wire from the Tach Adapter from the red wire from the 123? I don't understand why the tach adapter is spitting out a solid 12V from the white wire. That cannot feed a tach info can it? Why would it be sending a full 12V?

Im sorry I know this is boring and tedious.

But I really do appreciate your help.

  4. Simeon.

I have purchased a new tachometer, which was bench tested before I got it so I knew that it worked. And I have wired the tach adapter in your wiring exactly as it states. Red with the 12v side and the white with the white dizzy/ignition box wire with the diode & then to the tach and it hasn't done anything. I then metered the connector to find 12v?? I hope I haven't fried this new tacho from that voltage. The grey wire seems to be spitting a small varying amount of voltage which increases with revs still. I really don't get it. Any pointers?

  5. Bench tested the tacho using other means to confirm the tachometer is not working any longer.

Is there anywhere anyone knows of to find a schematic to try and fix it? I doubt I'm going to be able to find another one.

Has anyone ever done this before? I can't see it being to hard surely something has just blown.

    Thank you.

  6. Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

The tach adapter I have is 8910.

But that wiring diagram is not at all what I got with my tach adapter.

I havent bench tested the tach. Well I have. But I haven’t been able to get it to work so I was going to swing by the tach shop just to double check there is nothing wrong with it. It was working before I added the cdi box..

I shall read into that blog post Simeon and try a few different things.

The 123 is really nice. I bought a bad dizzy from IE and it was being a pain and everything else in the car I have done really as well as I could, so it seemed weird not to get the 123 it was just abit expensive at the time. However for what it is. It is actually extremely cheap. I love it. Sure the price is expensive relative to other distributors but it isn’t at all in anyway relative to any other distributors so no real comparison. I’d recommend to anyone. Even the build quality is Lovely.

  7. Hi guys,

I have a small problem that I am so sick of and can't get my head around.

I did a MSD CDI upgrade a few months ago, the Streetfire version, and I can't get the tach to go.

I have read every MSD Streetfire upgrade thread, and Noone has needed to use a tach adapter.

Everyones tach works fine with a direct feed from the gray wire. But for some reason mine does not. I have bought and tried the tach adapter however.

Does anyone have any suggestions I can try? I will take any suggestion..

I have tried everything but hopefully I have missed something.

I am running a bluetooth 123 dizzy, MSD blaster 2 coil. Everything else seems to work fine. Please helpppppppp :)

Appreciate every second of your time,

    Arlo.

  8. Hey guys,

Any clue whats going on here?

Bought an IE Mechanical Advance Distributor new and just chucked it in. Literally had the motor going for 5 minutes and oil is dripping out of the air drain holes in the casting of the dizzy?

I have a few photos below. Just looking at the build of it (average) can't quite see why this would be happening.

Anyway any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

  9. I do not have an advance light so will try and find someone that I can borrow one off. I set the timing on the ball at 1500rpm but it doesn't even want to turn over with the timing set there. I shall give that ago when I can obtain one and get back to you. Thank you again.

  10. Thanks Simeon. I have removed the magnetic pick up and it seems to be way better. Still not completely gone but I guess the others are just the extra sparks from the multi spark function? It would be a result of the timing am I correct to assume that? I timed my engine to the flywheel dot and it seemed to run better slightly advanced of that but I’m assuming because of having a 292 degree Schrick cam that would be correct?

  11. Does anyone have any idea why my tachometer would stop working with a MSD Streetfire Multi Spark module upgrade? I have been over the wiring a few times. Have pulled the tach out and routed another wire straight from the back of the tach to the grey wire on the module, still no go. I have a pertronix ignitor in my dizzy can I take a tach feed from the dizzy terminals? I have seen everyone else with these just wire straight up and not have a problem or need an adapter.

Any info would be highly appreciated.

    Arlo.

  12. Hi guys,

Kinda weird but maybe not I just don't quite get it.

So I installed a Streetfire CDI Module from MSD a little while after rebuilding my motor. But now my engine is doing small backfires through both the intake and the exhaust, they are not super loud backfires more like smaller ones, as if the cdi box is just sparking randomly lighting up whatever and whenever? While still sparking appropriately to run the motor decently? I have a pertronix in place of my points.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

  13. Hey,

Quick question I need help with. Just put a motor (M10) in this RHD 02 (When I got it it had none, had been removed.

I think I've got all the wires sorted except for this single one coming out through the firewall. Its blue.

    See below.

I am talking about that blue wire with the spade connector on it.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time,

    Arlo.

  14. Thanks for the replies guys.

Sorry for the misleading information yes I have already converted to single line brakes so I am after just the single servo not two I already have a twin setup now that works just fine but there is no room in the engine bay with the new engine and am not looking to relocate just looking for a single remote servo capable of assisting both the front disks and the rear drums.

Thank you for your time again I really appreciate it.
