I have a solidoodle3 with a few mods and a proper enclosure. So far the only automotive parts I've whipped up were mounts for LED ambient lighting in a map pocket. The OEM units allowed too much light to spill on the seats, floor etc. Worket quiet well, could quickly iterate through my shroud design to get the coverage I wanted. Other than that I've made brackets to mount holiday decorations, bag holders, a toy school bus (for my kid). It is a very useful tool.
At one point I needed to clock a rotating part so I printed a small replacement pully with a spot for a rare earth magnet. After winding a small coil and hooking up a scope I had the exact RPM.

Aftermarket alarm. Removed after about 5 years of ownership (bought my first 02 in 97).

My newish volvo s80 varies intensity based on how rapidly you are trying to stop (brighter in a panic situation). I think the Audi approach sounds a little too complex. For a 2002 just adding a high mount brake light should be enough IMO. It's not like it blends in with all the Camry's Taurii and accords. Plus the cat-less exhaust should help to keep them aware of your presence.

Maybe they vary depending on the dash type (1,2,3 piece?)

Dredging up the early vs. Late rigidity topic again, the later cars do have beams in the doors as well (dont think it was covered). Having driven and cut apart a 69, 72 and 76 I will concur with later cars feeling more solid. I thinks it goes beyond perception..

Looks like it may have had the nose replaced with a later (74-76) version. Is there a snorkel on the core support?

Ten or so years ago I took some waxed dental floss and wrapped it around the rivet in between the knob and the lever. Only took a couple of wraps and is pretty invisible. Make sure you tie it off. My handles were in pristine shape and original so it was hard to justify replacement.

I've used the washer trick to install w124 500e/e500 wheels on an MB w124 300e. I actually found MB provided instructions to dealers that recommend this when fitting larger wheels. Had to roll the rear lips though. Worked fine on that car. The boxier 2002 fender may not achieve the same results.

Oh as for the adapter, I remember buying a standard sized one that was slightly larger and using a tap and die to impart the correct metric threads. Couldn't find one locally and it was exorbitant to purchase online. Hasn't leaked in 10 years.

Things to consider:
Piston slap when cold (loose clearance, forged pistons, wear?)
Failing sender (does it leak around the plastic part surrounding the spade terminal)
Idle speed (too low)
Fuel contaminated oil (how does it smell)

I believe the automatics have a taller pedal as well. I run one on a 2bbl solex with modified throws.

I use utz pretzel kegs. Also use them to recycle used motor oil... we eat a lot of pretzels

I've done thus with cad plated hardware from a low miles 1969 auto I parted. After a decade I checked on them and there was little change. I used fresh oil, not used.

I'm 35, the car is a 74 and I've owned it since 2/01.
