I suppose I should have asked. Is it a 4 speed manual?

Are you interested in selling the good transmission you replaced?
Thanks,

update.. Replaced my exhaust manifold studs & gasket this past weekend. The process was fairly easy, however I still have a small leak. It does not appear to be coming from the studs like before but now the head gasket near the #3 exhaust port. The leak is about the size of a silver dollar where as before it was much larger. This really sucks...

Just curious as to why you didnt use loctite. Almost all of the posts I have read say to use it.

Folks,
This weekend I plan to replace the exhaust manifold gasket and studs on my 73 2002 due to leaking. I have a couple of questions.
1. I have read some threads that say use blue locktite on the studs and some that say use red. Which is correct?
2. I have also heard that the studs should only be installed hand tight. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance.

Charlie,
I live in Hilliard (Lakewood subdivision) off of Alton Darby Rd. New to the 02 world but have wanted one for years and finally did it. Would love to see your car and talk 2002's

Guys,
I have identified what I believe is an oil leak from the exhaust manifold. I have read about a hundred post on how to replace the gasket and studs. The problem is I'm terrified to attempt it in fear of breaking one of the studs. I have a spare head (came with car) on my workbench with the studs installed so I attempted to remove the studs on the spare on the workbench and they wouldnt budge. If I cant remove the ones on the workbench, how in the heck can I remove the ones on the car. Are there any 02 owners in Columbus Ohio who would be willing to spend an afternoon helping a fellow owner. Willing to pay with a case of your favorite beverage or steak dinner or whatever... Need serious help.

Is that 79 bucks for the set?

Hi Bryce,
Are the door handles still available? If so what are you asking for the set.
Thanks

Guys,
Any idea why my 73 is blowing hot air under dash even when the AC and heat are both turned off. It only blows when the car is moving. The little squirrel cage is spinning pushing out the air. Help!!!!! its 95 deg here so I definitely dont need heat.
Thanks,

I have a 73 2002 that i've been thinking of removing the overiders and pulling the bumpers in about 2 inches. I like the Euro look. Has anyone done this? whats the easiest way to do the rear? should I cut and weld the oval shaped rear brackets or will a beefy vise work? the metal doesnt appear to be too thick so I think a vise will work as long as I dont change the mounting holes. Thoughts??

Im looking for a 2002 mechanic or shop in or near Columbus Ohio. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hi Charlie, My apologies if I already sent this but I think I may have responded to my own post,
I also live in Hilliard. Im looking for someone close that could do some work on my 02. Anyone in the area that you would recommend. When I bought the car the seller said that it would soon need rod bearings because of a slight knock. It would be great if I bought the parts and I could help someone to learn. The purchase also came with tons of extra parts, valves, stems, hoses, pistons, rings etc... as well as a complete engine. Not sure of the condition of the spare engine but would be nice if I could use some of its parts.

Hi guys,
New here so go easy on me. Recently purchased a 73 2002 that came with a spare engine. Getting ready to remove head on the spare and clean the block to see what I have. Does anyone know the socket size to remove the crankshaft pulley nut so I can remove the lower timing chain cover.
Vin # Question
in BMW 2002 and other '02

Guys, and Gals!
newbie here. I found a site on this forum that you can put in your VIN # and get details on your car. I recently purchased what I believe is a 73 2002. The VIN # on the title, chassis, engine, and steering column all say 2588314. Entering this VIN into the site says my car is a series E30, 318i, engine M40 with a 1988/06 production date. Have I been scammed or am I not reading the site correctly? Im confused. HELP!!!!
Thanks in advance
