Purchased through Summit Racing, because they offered more affordable shipping than Coker Tire. The Vredesteins aren't cheap ($96 ea), but they are the only halfway reasonable option I could find besides the questionable Chinese brands (i.e. Nankang, Westlake, Sunny, Joyroad, etc), which received terrible reviews. The Vredesteins are quiet and seem to have good grip considering how narrow they are. The sidewalls also have a vintage appearance.

It is the sport steering wheel from a E21 320is, which has a much smaller diameter than stock. With the smaller steering wheel and the 195 tires, I found low speed steering to be very heavy, even with new strut-top bearings.

Just installed my restored FPS 13" bottlecap alloys with 165R13 Vredesteins. What a revelation, compared to the previous E30 bottlecaps with 195/60 14's. The steering is lighter and has gone from heavy and dead to light and communicative. The car rides great, and handling around town seems better. Granted, the 14's gave better ultimate grip, but I feel that I am finally experiencing the car as BMW intended. I recommend the "upgrade" to anyone considering it!

What color does everyone think this is? Has a blue interior, so it should be Fjord, but it looks almost aquamarine in the video.

Any 71-73 front bumper parts? Looking for driver-quality center section and overriders, no major dents/rust. Please email rmvanmatre at yahoo dot com.
Thanks,
Reed

Is this a shorty ('68-'71) or long ('72 and later) rear bumper?

Thanks John. Does anyone out there have the chrome bumpers offered on here back in October by deuceswild at feinzauto?

No - then he'd have two restoration projects!
Dude, you should really pick up a runner 02 to beat around in while your doing the restore....Mark

I am ready to do a bumper swap on my '74 tii. Considering all the options - original condition OEM, re-chromed OEM, and reproduction bumpers. Anyone out there willing to share their experience with reproduction bumpers - namely the stainless bumpers from LaJolla Independent and the chrome bumpers offered on the FAQ by feinzauto? I only came across one post reviewing the stainless bumpers.
I am specifically interested in the manufacturing quality, fit and finish, and the merits of chrome vs. stainless. Any pics of installed bumpers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Reed

Be careful with the NOS BMW key blanks. Because they are steel, most locksmiths won't cut them. Also, steel is more brittle than brass and breaks much more easily if the lock is sticky. Brass blanks are a better option.

Thomas, I will purchase a complete set of lines when they are available. Thanks for doing this project for the tii community. Happy 2013! Reed

Looking for an original set of factory repair manuals that would cover my 9/74 tii. Not picky about condition, just need a complete manual.

I'm definitely interested in a group buy for the bumpers (long for me), possibly the trim as well. Nice work!

Jgerock, where did you get the diagram from your previous post?

Also, jgerock, would pressure under the oil cap suggest leaking rings/seals? Would that not have been indicated on a compression check?
