  1. I am interested in the shifter tower and aluminum "dog bone",

    What are you asking?

    Regards

    John

sent you an email it came back failed, I have a few members interested in both parts, if things don't follow through I will offer the shifter to you there are a few members interested in the gearbox only, so things should work out for the best

  2. as the title says it's a 5 speed and a 2002 Haus conversion kit, I purchased this kit from ClayW a fellow 02 member, this is a copy of part of his listing

"The 5 speed is getting a seals refresh before I sell it. The conversion kit isn't just the relocation bracket; it's the shifter tower and aluminum "dog bone", too",

I did not install this so it's in the same condition as when I purchased it from Clay, I recently sold my 72 so I have quite a few parts I acquired that will be up for sale,

the gearbox bracket is not pictured but is included with the sale, I need to clean out a storage bin,

UPDATE.. UPDATE.. UPDATE.. storage bin is gone now I have no place to keep parts price drop $400 picked up or $400 plus whatever shipping will be to your location.

  4. Esty;

this car was on E-bay and included a lot of pictures. There is no need to try and understand; the term TLC was a litttle bit of a stretch; yep, TLC, some more TLC, some more TLC, some PAINTING, WELDING, WIRING, FIXING, and a bunch of other words that can be spelled out.

No need to bash folks, I relisted the car and did not realize ebay did not attach my pics, when I say TLC its because from being a structural mechanic in the Marine Corps working on F/18 fighter jets, to now becoming a shade tree mechanic, I can honestly say a decent body shop or garage wrencher can replace a few floor pieces and have a good daily driver, OF COURSE if you want to fully restore this car it will require yes a few more TLCs, but overall I tried to be as honest as possible because through this forum I met a ton of great folks and acquired a bit of excellent new and used parts, also have a greater respect for these little machines and their capabilities, I am still on the fence about selling the car just haven't had the time to really turn the wrenches as I would like to, ( I guess the anxiety of wanting it finished coupled with the limited space of time allotted has given rise to the reality a full resto is never going to happen and a 10 foot looker might be all I can muster, which was certainly not my initial thoughts and dreams when I purchased.

Thanks for hearing my $0.02 maybe through both kind and harsh words I will find the energy and time to finsih it.

  5. Hey folks I just listed my 72 on ebay item number 270900334749, if interested please view or give me some feedback here if I am being unreasonable with the price or better yet hopefully someone is interested, I have gathered quite a bit of parts pretty much everything from this forum, thanks to all for the advice and parts, time is just not on my side and since purchasing the car I have probably put less than 500 miles on it, it now sits at a friends garage where the only action it sees is getting driven in and out the shop daily to make space for work.

  6. is a squarelight car with plastic grilles. Your car is a roundie with metal grilles. While you could modify your '72 to take the plastic grilles, it's more trouble than it's worth.

If your car is a fairly early production '72 (check REALOEM for the exact VIN cutoff) you have the "deep" headlight surround grilles with asymetric headlight retainer rims. The late 72/all 73 "shallow" headlight surround grilles (with symetric retainer rims) will give you a more flush look. While the headlight buckets are the same for both grilles, those retainer rims aren't, so be sure and get them when you get the grilles. Squarelights use these same retainers, but they're black vs chrome.

The deep grilles are still available from BMW Classic; however, the shallow grilles have been NLA for a number of years.

    Happy hunting.

OK OK you guys have me reconsidering the 74 grill, the shallow post euro bucket look is what I am trying to achieve, if the shallow grills are NLA.. can I still get the symetric retainer rims, that were used on both late model 72 and 73-on headlights?

  7. don"t scream at me folks this topic might have been posted before

My car is a 72 2002 but it has the 121 head, from doing my search I should not have that head unless it was swapped by previous owner.

any block numbers or casting I could look for to verify if the engine has been swapped or just the head.

  8. I have a pair of late black grills if you need. Let me know. I can send pics. Thanks

pics would be nice but honestly the folks I have met on this forum have really been outstanding, how far north into CT are you, I am 8 miles west on 287 from the 95 connect even closer to 684, I could drive to meet you and possibly get your thoughts on some minor issues I have with the car.
