  1. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it.

Is there a diagram that shows how it comes out from the bottom? It seems to big to fit through the holes in the door.

I noticed some surface rust, I will have to treat that and lube up everything while I am in there.

  2. I am posting again for the first time in many years.

I have neglected my 2002s to some extent but I am out again to fix all their faults.

One problem is the window regulator gears are skipping.

Is there a fix to this or is the only option to buy a new window regulator?

  3. I think the idea was to create something with a similar design philosophy rather than a retro 2002.

Bolt-on flares, massive airdam, turbo livery and a spoiler. All they should do now is make it stupid fast and sell 1000 of them.

I like it, it's not subtle, and not elegant by any means, but then neither is the 2002 turbo.

  4. Here in South Africa you could buy a '83 745i with the m88 engine, 0-60 in 7s.

We also had the e30 333i, fitted with the 733i engine. We also had an aluminum bodied e30 with an Alpina 2.7 amd e30 m3 suspension, called the 325is.

A few other unique BMWs as well.

Funny things we had to do to get RHD performance BMWs.

  5. So.....maybe not factory Colorado, or maybe not a factory blue interior. Or maybe neither!

Oddly, I recall from a few years back, a thread in which a ti owner said something akin to "I have a Colorado ti with a black interior currently but which shows evidence of a navy blue interior originally." I didn't believe this, of course, because I heard neither the a.) evidence of a navy blue interior, nor b.) evidence that the evidence was original to the car! I wonder if this is the same car.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Uhm, that owner... was me.

When I bought the car, its seats were redone in nasty black vinyl. Upon stripping the interior i found original looking blue carpet against the rear kick plate. The rest was grey. I also found strips of blue vinyl under the rear seats.

    Nothing concrete I guess.

Anyway. This is not my car btw. Mine is still undergoing restoration.

  6. Pictures, pictures! We need more pictures!

To answer your question, in short, yes. But there are some things to consider.

The 1600 likes to rev but sacrifices a lot of bottom end power compared to the 2002, the same thing happens with more aggressive cams, so you might lose some low end torque, but will definitely gain power in the mid and high range.

Personally, with the higher compression and the rev-happy nature of the 1600, I think a cam would work well.

The key with all DCOE engines is to get it tuned properly.

  7. Now you're getting cocky. I'm glad you have years of seat time under your belt. I admittedly only have a couple of 24 hours of lemons I can hold to that. This design works for me and my application, might not be to your taste, but by no means are your putdowns making this less functional.

Quick to the punch and quick to assume I have complete lack of knowledge. Man. I thought the 2002 group was supposed to be welcoming

nope, turns out there's a few miserable old purists. who would've thought?

Don't assume this forum is like the othe "scene kids" forums. Here we share experience. These cars have been around for a long time. Most things have been tried before and and improved upon. Take criticism as the old farts sharing knowledge.

    Don't be so sensitive.

  8. If you go that low you will have too much rear camber and toe. You will have to modify the rear subframe to fix that.

Harshness has much more to do with shocks than springs, something like the AST 4150 coilovers with a double-digresive piston would have different rates of high and low speed rebound/compression resulting in a very capable handling car with reasonable comfort.

Too much high speed compression/rebound is all to common on cheap shocks.
