  1. I just rebuilt my engine and replaced the Weber 45DCOE's with a pair of 40DC 44/45'sa. I followed the instructions in my Haynes manual as to the initial settings of idle adjustment screws, but, it ran really rough at idle. After a whole lot of rechecking valve clearance, timing, Pertronix points, I realized that I was not getting enough fuel at idle. I have since replaced the 50F15 idle jets that were in the 40's with the 50F9 from 45's and turned the idle adjustment screws out 4 full turns and it now idles better. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/comments so that I can start to enjoy driving this 02 instead of always tinkering with it.

  2. Thanks for the response. I was a advised by a mechanical engineer that it is best to replace any bolts that have been torqued twice. In my case both the engines I own have been rebuilt at lease once and I have no idea whether or not new bolts were installed at that time. I have since found the 8 shorter bolts but not the 2 longer ones for the center bearing so I may be forced to use the old ones. I hope they are OK. Ken

  3. I am in the process of rebuilding my engine and have had a few people ask me how many degrees BTDC I am going set the cam. My manuals instruct me to set #1 piston at TDC with the valves closed and then install the cam gear with the notches lined up. I believe that I am to set the timing with the distributor. Can someone please guide me in the right direction?

  4. I just purchased an engine from a 1974 which I suspect has been rebuilt a number of years ago. The engine has a few upgrades (Weber 45 carbs, electric fuel pump, larger intake valves) so I thought it would nice to determine the camshaft that is in it. The only markings I can find is CC A30. Does anyone recognize this?
