  1. "BTW, pretty nice numbers matching 72tii on fleabay right now, Ceylon, factory alloys, a little messing with (292 cam, 320i recaro's) but other than that pretty much stock, not concours but nice. Watch and see where this one ends up. " ****from a previous post.****

That was my car on Ebay a while back. I thought I would report that it sold to someone after the auction for $18,000. Sad to see it go, but moving on.

  2. This looks interesting. It's at bringatrailer.com (they will send you a daily email of interesting cars if you want).

This 1974 BMW 2002 is offered by the third owner and is as straight and rust free as they get. It has been a local car all its life, was always garaged, and has 133k original miles. The owner for the first 30 years was a woman from El Dorado Hills who took the car to a local shop called Lubo’s for any maintenance issue, and all receipts are included. The second owner was a Sacramento County employee who only put 3k miles on the car in 5 years, taking it to the driving range on sunny days. It has original ice-cold Behr A/C that was converted to R12. It is available in Sacramento, California for $6900. Contact us at mail@bringatrailer.com if you are interested.

  3. After a few years, (and between a few motorcycle restorations) and more than a few dollars this project is coming to a close. Bead blasted to bare metal with new motor and trans, and all new suspension it drives like new.

So now I'll probably do what I usually do and sell it and start on something new.

  4. Hi, I am new to this Forum and thought that I would share some pictures of my 72 tii restoration.

First a little history of the car as the owner still had the dealer paperwork.

This is from my post a few years ago on the BMW CCA site

    1972 2002tii

    150,000 mi

    Factory options were;

    rear window defogger $41

    MXAS tires $27

    reclining seats $45

    tinted glass $58

    leatherette seats, another $45

    metallic paint $175 (ceylon)

    AM/FM radio $180

The car is pretty much stock with the

exception of the Recaro's and the wheels.

There has been a new carpet kit installed

and the engine has been gone over just recently

and found to be quite strong.

I found this car under a tarp and belonging to an

elderly customer. He said that he had got it new

and drove it to work for many years. He said that

it was the best car that he ever had (and he was

a doctor). He told me that he had given the car

to his son but that he had since died. He drove

the car from Los Angeles to Whidbey Island in

1995 and when he got here he took it to a

local mechanic (bad idea). When he got it back

he noticed a gas smell and saw gas leak from

the injection pump. He shut it off and covered it

with a tarp for 8 years. I asked if he would sell it

and he said sure "tow it away". Which I gladly

    did that same day!!

Oh yeah, the gas leak was caused by not replacing

    an O-ring.
