Gino at German Auto Specialist is the best. I have taken my 02 to him, my wifes 328i and he just rebuilt an M42 for my 02, bill
Thank you. I’ll give Gino a call on Monday. -
Thank you Carl. Ideally I’m looking for members who have first hand experience and personal recommendations. Many shops in Ventura county servicing BMW’s, but challenging to find a mechanic who has expertise in early 70’s models, particularly tii’s.

Mechanic I used to use in Oxnard (Lothar at Dieters) retired and moved back east to PA last year. My ‘72 02 and tii touring are in need of some work to get them running. Any recommendations for a shop in Ventura county area (live in Camarillo) and/or person who might be doing some independent work on the side I could contact? Thank you.

Got the ‘72 2000tii touring out of storage and drove it for for first time in over a year. Oil changed and new battery.

Thank you for the tip. Wished I would have checked this sooner, having already purchased one off EBay for $300.

Does anyone have a new OEM tii water pump with gasket? Part # 11511255171

Those blue Scheel seats are gorgeous! They sure do indeed look comfortable. Congratulations and hope you're able to get the rear ones done to match soon.

awesome. Are those early recaros really comfy? Thinking of getting the d'eser replicas for my NK as they were first available in the same year as the car.
Recaros in my '72 tii touring with factory "sport packet". Similar to ones on an early 911S.
From RealOEM site:

They are indeed comfy Nick, but original. Hope to someday recover, but have yet been unable to source the correct insert fabric material. Center portions have a unique fabric weave.

Really should drive this more often. Took it out today and had a blast!

Several parts purchased going back many years and all good. Highly recommended.

Hope you are doing much better Esty. I am so grateful to have had you make the salt and pepper carpet kit for my tii touring, as well as the other for the 1600.

Snorkle nose, so some body work in past I would gather. If truly a super dry car, this tii should sell quick at asking price.

Year:: 1972
Make:: BMW
Model:: 2002
Price:: 24500
Location: : Reading, PANot mine, nor affiliated. Saw this ad and thought I would pass along. May be the polaris tii touring I saw years ago imported previously to CA by Jaime M. Seems like a reasonable price for rare vehicle.

If you're in San Diego, you ought to try Autobahn Interiors http://www.autobahninteriors.com
He's mainly a Porsche guy but pretty sure Tony could track down the correct seat pattern vinyl. He did the headliner on my '02. Top quality stuff. It's fun just to go into his shop to see what he's working on.
Thanks for the tip. I'm actually a few hours north of the SD area, but will give the shop a call to check with Tony.

Hi Nick,lovely - can you share some pics of the cool interior? What a rare car- I'd "heard" these also had the lip of the front panel and the sill (rockers) painted black. Yours doesn't, but do you know if it came that way before the respray? Congrats on the best touring there is.
Original German owner brought the touring from Munich to northern inland San Diego county in 1974. As a machinist, he ventured to the US for better employment prospects. The tii was kept garaged and driven a relatively short distance to and from his work for years until his retirement. He did have car repainted in the 90's in original polaris, so rockers may have been black from factory. I discovered this touring listed on a German web site as for sale, posted by his cousin. Many emails and phone calls later, he arranged a meeting for me to come and see. Bought it on the spot back in 2002. Bill Holmes (aka, Bavarian Rennsport) in Ramona, CA went through it and rebuilt the original block, other mechanicals, ect. Factory "sport paket" included black Recaro seats with white piping, sport steering wheel, alloys, US-style front turn signals, and Hella fog lamps. Also has chrome inner door sills, but not sure if part of original package, interior needs a makeover and I've yet to find a source for correct front seat pattern vinyl.

Love my polaris '72 tii with factory "sport paket". Was fortunate to have original owner sell it to me back in 2002.

Tii Touring on BAT in Florida
in BMW 2002 and other '02

Warms my heart to see the tii touring getting some love. Also thank you to Les for clarifying uniqueness of “sportpaket” (that also included front Hella lamps). I was fortunate to have purchased my ‘72 polaris 2000tii the original owner, Franz, about 20 years ago who bought in Munich before moving to the US (northern San Diego county) in early 70’s to start a career as a machinist. Although the interior is original, it does need reupholstering and dash has cracks (new pieces in boxes), but dry, straight example. Salt & Pepper carpet kit purchased from Esty years ago in box awaiting installation. Original block was rebuilt by Bill Holmes (Bavarian Rennsport) and other mechanical bits renewed including suspension. Cheers.
