My 1976 1502

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I recently bought an Inca Orange 1502. I've wanted one ever since i had my E30 6 years ago where i twin carb'd and rebuilt the m10 engine so i'm really excited about this project! I've started by fitting some vintage style bucket seats where i have made my own brackets to lower the seats right down and recline them a bit and also fitted a rev counter. I've just changed the oil, plugs and filters and will be doing my tappets sunday morning. Looking at turning it into a stealthy street machine that looks un modified on the outside so we will see how that goes! Will also be touring her through France, Italy and Switzerland in August so i need to prepare her for that! just a few photos to set a baseline before the tuning commences!

thanks guys!! yes i have seen a few rhd 1502's registerd in the uk but not many. I have actually always really loved the simplicity of the 1502 as it has much less trim than the 2002 even though i love those so when one came up for sale i had to buy it. they are pretty much gold dust in this country and in this condition

I set my tappet heights yesterday morning and took the opportunity to polish up the rocker cover and oil cap and give the distributor a clean out. Just wet sanded it down starting at 400 grit through 600, 800 and finally 1200 before hitting it with some autosol. however on putting it all back together i made the stupid mistake of not recording where the dizzy rotor arm was and had to mess about having my girlfriend control the handbrake while i pushed it down the road to find the TDC! anywhere here's a few pics

bought some products!

Some more pics of the cleanup and then the block painted. I have also had a look at some spots of welding that i have needed doing and sent some photos for Jaymic to give me a quote for the work. £2500! unfortunately i cant afford that kind of money so i'm just going to have to cut it all out and do it myself. heres the photos i sent jaymic.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
