  1. I have a pair of front cloth Recaro seats, which from what I can tell are the LX-C model because they have the seat base length adjustment up front (but don't quote me on that!). They do not have the sliding seat bases, only the seats themselves. However, all plastic parts are intact and functioning; the only damage to any plastic component is one of the adjuster wheels has a small piece broken out of the grip area, but the wheel as a whole is still intact and functioning. Both seats have identical knobs and levers for tilt on both sides of the seats, so technically they can be used on either driver or passenger side equally. One seat has more wear than the other as seen in photos, and the fabric on the worst one (original driver's seat I assume) has a patch on the base and on one side bolster. I'm located in Denver, CO, and I would prefer to not have to attempt shipping due to the prohibitive cost. I listed them at $400 for the pair, which seems fair based on some internet research, but please feel free to make an offer if you have a better sense of what they are worth.
  2. $660 + shipping or pick up locally in Sacramento, CA
  3. I'm working on the interior, and have run into two snags: 1. My new carpet is molded-to-fit, and fits great, but still needs some trimming and hole-cutting for screws and such. I've tried using a box-cutter and scissors, but neither seem to cut through the carpet fabric and plastic very well. I was thinking of trying a hot-knife. Any suggestions? 2. After vinyl-dyeing my seats, some un-cured epoxy spilled on them. It's been about 9 months, and the epoxy is still sticky. What can I use to remove it, without damaging the plastic of the seat too much? Thanks!
  4. I have little to no storage space so these bits and bobs need to go to someone who can use them or at least tuck them away. I removed the air condintioning system this summer. All the parts are there I believe. I have the console as well, but would need a replacement to let it go. Free for pick up. Tim
  5. Saddle/Tobacco (I can never tell which is which!) Matching Front and Rear seats with Front and Rear Door Cards- Selling complete only - $1250 - Please call/text 858-208-8449 email [email protected] I purchased these a few years ago and have had stored inside my garage with the intent of installing in my 1969 2002. That car is a little ways off from completion and I need to make room in my garage. I can't imagine shipping all of this unless it went via Greyhound; but I guess it all could go on a pallet. I am hoping for someone to pick up as if I have to ship I may need to add a PITA Fee. Here is what Steve said about them when I purchased. The "eared" headrests -- fatter at the outer ends than in the middle -- came out during the 1973 model year. They are likely combined with the later, 12mm., headrest supports -- earlier headrest supports were 10mm. The vinyl on the rear seat, which appears to be original, is consistent with 1973 seats (as well as 1972 and, perhaps, some 1971 seats). Likewise, the black splatter-painted recliners are also consistent with 1973 seats (as well as 1972 non-tii seats and, perhaps, some 1971 seats). I'd assume, therefore, that the seats are all part of a single original set and, thus, date to the 1973 model year. The front seats, although they have been recovered and re-stuffed, might retain date-stamped manufacturers tags inside.
  6. As a recent 2002 owner, this forum has been invaluable, so thanks to all. I am looking for a back seat for my 72-76 2002, in black, but I am also open to tan or blue. I am in Mass but I am ok with shipping. I recently used Greyhound and it was pretty reasonable. Anyone that has one to sell, please let me know. Thanks again.
  7. Still new to the site here.. just getting into the interior on my 76’. Since I bought it 6months ago and the driver seat has a rip right down the seams that has pretty much grown from side to side. Anyone know how to repair? I got a upoulstry kit to sew it up but it wants to just pull through the leather or pleather? Have a look and let me know. Thanks!
  8. Written by David Duncan Wednesday, 07 September 2005 Repadding the stock '02 seats is a time-consuming but worthwile procedure. While most people will simply upgrade to some nice Recaros when their original seats have had it, many prefer the original look or simply can't yet afford to go with some replacement Recaros. For these people, restuffing the original seats is a great option. In my case, I repadded the front seats in my 1975 2002 for about $35 worth of foam and a few evenings of work in my spare time. The first seat I tried took about eight hours, and the second one was
  9. Got a set of fronts seats awhile back and decide to just experiment and try out some rustoleum vinyl upholstery paint.🎨 Knowing in the back of my mind I would be testing the water and completely reworking both seats with either new vinyl or leather upholstery. So I decide to paint the passenger seat because it was in much better shape than the driver, minimal rips or cracked unlike the drivers seat which had holes in the bolster and seat bottoms. Come to find out after the seat had been completely broken down the seat bottom had been cracked and split two 😞, didn't realize it was even broken u
  10. A fellow ‘02-Montrealler (Pierre*) was nice enough to give me the lower portion of his rear bench (he had an extra one). This put me a step closer to finally installing a rear bench... So, now I just needed to acquire the upper portion of the rear bench plus, some new padding/foam and the all-important vinyl upholstery. I stripped down the rear base, the old “horsehair” padding is pretty gross. I wire-brushed it, degreased it, used a metal etch and gave it a couple of coats of matt black. I ordered the under-pad, foam and vinyl from aardvark racing. Unfortunately, I d
  11. Day ~63 – 68 I’m trying to get a whole bunch of things done so that I can drive this car before winter comes and as you may know, it comes pretty quick around here. Weather Stripping/Seals - Driver/Passenger Doors Seals (Uro) I had read some negative reviews about the Uro door seals but I also read that some weren’t happy with the OEM version. Given the big price difference, I cheaped out and went with the Uro door seals. Installing the door seals, is a slight bitch. Jamming it in to the aluminum bracket channel isn’t fun and then removing it to add weather stripping adh
  12. I've had a couple of questions about the seat upholstery on my project car, so I'll provide some additional details... First of all, the car came to me with a set of VW GTI Mk2 Recaros installed. I immediately loved the size and support of the seats, but the blue velvet just wasn't quite the look I had in mind. 😉 Given all the work ahead, it seemed kind of silly to target the seats as one of the first pieces to complete, but it really helped me "anchor" the rest of my choices. I spend some time looking around online for options to refurbish with specialists, but I wasn't lookin
  13. Seats Another small update, but progress is progress so I'll take it. Wish I took more photos of the brackets specifically, but I suppose they aren't much to look at. I started off by restrapping the drivers side seat. Mk2 VW Recaros use a sling style support under the cushion to hold you up. My drivers seat sling had fallen apart, and was poorly repaired. I converted it over to this sling style support using the stock hardware. Let me be the first to say, holy shit this sucks to do. The actual metal bars it sits on are pretty flimsy, and these are obviously very strong elastic, so
  14. Parts Collecting Things have been slow with the 2002, it's taken a lot longer to get in parts then I had anticipated. Not many big updates in this post, mostly just parts collecting. The first guy I had arranged to trade hubs with flaked out, and it took a few weeks to find someone willing to sell me a set. Fortunately they have arrived. I also have all new wheel bearings ready to go when it's time to do the swap. I've also ordered all new brake components, including braided hoses. Figured I might as well upgrade while I'm in there. My R
  15. For sale are nearly mint condition front and rear tan seats with Malaga piping. One tiny tear in one seat bottom (pictured). Local Pickup preferred - but can ship Greyhound at buyers expense.
  16. Edit: After cleaning the garage a bit today, I've just decided to get rid of them. If you are local to the Phoenix, AZ area they are absolutely free to a good home. I rather someone get some use out of them rather than toss them. I just need the space. My 2002 came with these funky, mismatched stock front seats. I swapped in Recaro buckets, and have no need for them. The tan seat is dirty, and has some sag in the rear leather of the seat, but is in otherwise good shape. The green/tan seat is also in good shape. Both work mechanically well. Rails are not included.
  17. Hello, I just took these out of my 1975 BMW 2002. I know they are not original so someone must have tried to "upgrade" the rear seats once upon a time. The leather is on horrible condition (upholster said cannot be saved). I also have a picture of what the back looks like. Appears to be a plastic material, fit perfects when put in my 2002 but I have opted for original seats. You can come pick them up in San Diego (sorry no shipping). Additionally, I will be in Phoenix this weekend (18MAY-20MAY). So if you are in that area I can bring them with me. Also, price is negotiable. Thanks! David

  20. I had an upholster install new Gahh front seat covers on my 73 2002tii. I have 10mm headrest posts. I purchased new headrest chrome caps (see photo) - part #52101819850. Both upholster and I can't figure out how to get the chrome caps to snap into the headrest plastic guide inside the seat. The guide inside of the seat has ridge and the chrome cap has tabs, so they should lock together. Seems to me the Gahh covers have too much foam attached inside and doesn't allow the chrome caps to snap. I tried a fair amount of force. Any experience or suggestions on how to attach the chrome caps securely?

  23. Hello! I'm selling the front seats that were removed from my 1975 BMW 2002. Both seats recline fine and tilt forward (the passenger side needs a bit of coercion but it does work). The drivers seat has a couple of tears in the center but the passenger is in great condition. I had planned on getting these reupholstered but decided to go a different rout with VW Recaro's. No shipping due to their size but I'd be willing to meet up within a reasonable distance. -Colby
  24. I have the two front seats and the rear seat out of a 1974 2002. The seats are in fair condition cosmetically and were operating well when I took them out a few years ago. I don't really see many other seats to price these off of so if I am way off make me an offer. I'd prefer not to ship them but if your willing to pay to ship them I can look into it.
  25. I just replaced the seats in my 71 – can’t hold onto them till the Bay Area swap in May – need room in the garage. I’m open to trades and offers. I just tossed some digits in the box above. Both seats are in decent shape; but, need new pads. As you can guess, the drivers seat is a bit more warn than the passenger. The weave on the bottom section of the drivers seat has separated from the solid face panel.
