  1. I bought one of the first IE pedal box bearing kits several months ago and finally got around to installing it. here is the pile of parts tools needed include: 17mm open end wrench 17mm closed end wrench (not the same as above) 19mm wrench needle nose vice grips small flat blade screwdriver (to poke the washers when installing pedals start by : remove gas pedal pull carpet out. twist 45 left to get it off pedals. gas pedal arm first. pop the little cover by the gas pedal so the pedal bolt can slide out use vise grips to pull spring off brake pedal remove brake pedal pin to linka
  2. Ok, I have had enough of the gas and gaz pedals coming off because of that dumb nub design from bmw. Time to do the conversion to a hinge. Since this is a track and street car that has carpet, I could not just bolt it to the floor. Have to preserve the concept of two things sticking up from the floor through the existing holes in the carpet. Short version of the process I am following is.. -cut off existing nubs and nub holder -install two bolts through the floor and secure then top and bottom with alum bar and lock nut -attach a hinge to the pedal -install carpet -screw nut onto bolts
  3. After test driving the car in California, I knew there was a few things that I would have to take care of right away when the car arrived home. Primarily with the throttle pedal. The car has an E30 G260 5 speed, which required the transmission tunnel to be widened. The result was a stock throttle pedal that absolutely did not fit anymore. I struggled to press it, and broke it clean off not 30 seconds after the car had arrived home. I ordered an Ireland Engineering aluminum throttle pedal, a kit they sell to address these issues. I simply cut out the stock pedal bracket, and bolted this ped
  4. The day I bought the car, the pedals looked like this: Dear God YUCK! Also, the clutch cylinder is broke. Anyway, that pile of excrement simply can not exist in MY very fancy automobile. So, after considerable cussing and sweating, out it came. The next day there was a hurricane. So I drove a few hundred miles home instead of attempting to work on my car. But I brought the cluster with me. Yay! Mini-project! So, first I took everything apart and blasted away the rust, paint, tar, and my tears. The fresh parts went right off to New Life Powd
  5. After getting my ignition system dialed, I am now onto my brake system. Initially by car would pull to the left and vacuum assist rarely worked. I inspected the brakes and found a sticking caliper on the front right hand side so I decided to refresh the brakes by. 1.replacing front calipers and pads 2.replacing rear wheel cylinders 3.adjusting the rear shoes 4.replacing the vacuum line from intake to brake booster (with proper vacuum hose 12x19mm) 5. I also power bled the system 6.I tested the Vacuum Booster to make sure it held vacuum and also that there was no sign of fluid leakage from the master cylinder. All seemed good as test drove it to seat the pads and the when I needed a quick stop it gave me a really hard pedal as if the brake booster wasn't working. Before you say it the one way inline check valve is installed correctly with the arrow pointing towards the intake manifold. So at this point I can't count on my brakes to work in an emergency situation. When the pedal gets hard is I let it out and push back down on it I do get my vacuum boost. I am kinda stumped at this point. I also tested the one way inline valve with my vacuum gauge and it held vacuum when on the booster side and let vacuum through when on the manifold side. I also have good vacuum on the manifold, about 20"hg at idle. What am I missing here? I am confident that there is no air in the lines because I don't have a spongy pedal that firms up if I pump it. The only 2 things left that I can think of are that the master cylinder is random binding up internally or that the one way check valve is randomly leaking under fluctuating conditions. Tell me what you think I missed. BTW I don't think my car has a proportioning valve or pressure differential valve. It is a 1971 base with stock brakes.
  6. We have a local customer with a worn out throttle arm , gas pedal to the floor , no movement at the carb !!. The factory arm was worn out & so I came up with a solution, why not make a new one, I used a clamping collar, reamed it out to fit over the splined shaft , tig welded it to a new thicker arm , bent it to match a good arm & job done , an allen screw does the tightening, After seeing the price of a replacement it seemed the best solution. I made a few so if you are interested they are $30 ,

  10. Custom machined aluminum pedals for your BMW 2002. These are brand new and unused. Comes with all of the mounting hardware and drilling template. New $125.   11. Hey guys, I've noticed that there is brake fluid around the pedal cluster and soaked into my carpet on my 2002. The pedal box is in good shape, no rust or anything, but I can see the light of day from it. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Also, is there a grommet that I am missing for the pedal cluster box that should prevent me from seeing through to the floor? Thanks

  14. I installed the Tii pedal stop today, and much to my frustration, my pedal misses the stop. I found good reference photos in the responses to repoman, but no dimensions. Now, this is just too good of a description to pass up... From the base where the balls mount, to the top of the shaft measures a solid eight inches, or 20cm, I've always thought my pedal was above average, but apparently it's not enough for a Tii...? Ahhh... part of the answer was in repoman's thread in the drawing: I was wondering how there could be sufficient travel if that piece under the throttle slide made contact with the pedal stop. But wait, this looks different than the other drawing (looks like mine): This one looks like that nub with the #16 would make contact with the stop. Seems to me like that would be short travel from idle to WOT. Can somebody please put a measuring tape to a correct Tii pedal and tell me if mine is correct, or is it for a standard '02? Well, I took the opportunity to clean out my pedal box. Not too bad, a little brushing and vacuuming and penetrating oil on the surfaces... I just Googled Tii pedal and got this, but drawing 35/8 does not exist in the RealOEM catalog! Item #15 is the correct pedal, but how to find the number?

I bought one of the first IE pedal box bearing kits several months ago and finally got around to installing it. here is the pile of parts tools needed include: 17mm open end wrench 17mm closed end wrench (not the same as above) 19mm wrench needle nose vice grips small flat blade screwdriver (to poke the washers when installing pedals start by : remove gas pedal pull carpet out. twist 45 left to get it off pedals. gas pedal arm first. pop the little cover by the gas pedal so the pedal bolt can slide out use vise grips to pull spring off brake pedal remove brake pedal pin to linkage. c-clip comes off by hand or with vice grips. pull out your pedals. two bolts, 17/19 on clutch bolt, 17/17 on pedal bolt. while in there, might as well clean up/paint pedal box if needed.. here is the order the parts go in with stock bushings for reference assembled (spare pedal box used for demo purposes) NOTE - the "stack width" of all the IE parts was just a touch too wide to fit in either of my pedal boxes. i ended up using a center washer that was thinner than the stock one and shaved a few thou off the clutch pedal spacer to get the width correct. here is pic of thinner center washer when i was mocking up in demo box. and yes, you can do this by yourself... it is a major PITA to line up all the little pieces while pushing the bolt through, but doable. hard part is getting nut on end of bolt with the tight space. the paper towel visible is to prevent an ooops moment if i bobbled the nut or washer and it was going to run down the frame rail. i used needle nose vice grips to hold nut on end of bolt with left hand while reaching in car with right hand to rotate bolt to start thread engagement on the nut. soooo....was it worth it? yes. much less play in the pedals (this is compared to the new stock bushings i had in there NOT to old trashed bushings) HOWEVER...the major slop in the 02 brake system remains at the booster pivot. send your cards and letters to IE to ask them to make a similar bushing kit for this part of the system!!!!!
