As Tesoro sits and gets pampered with different waterproof/rustproof treatments before he goes to paint in the coming weeks, The 02princess is diligently taking action with this whole insurance fiasco! The Tow truck company's insurance company completed "their investigation". Mind you.. I called AAA for their tow because Tesoro's clutch went out so after pulling over on the shoulder of the freeway... Tesoro was INOPERABLE.... Their tow truck driver backed into Tesoro and they are DENYING LIABILITY. Ugh.... makes my stomach sick that I have to go through this unbelievable nonsense!- 1 comment

He folks, Since I drive my car a lot (about 2k mi/year) I wanted to check on insurance value. My state farm agent of 24 years sadly passed away this year and we were assigned a new agent. When I spoke with him to introduce myself I thought to ask about insuring the 2002 for its value. He said since it gets limited driving on nice days I should go with the antique/collector insurance in order cover the value. He stopped by the office on Thursday and took a bunch of pictures. (He has an AMG was pumped to see the o2.) I thought you might find the info below of use/interest as I spent some time getting prices off eBay and craigslist. I don’t know if I believe the NADA value though, seems pretty high. Hope you are all doing great! The average retail value is $17,700, which seems to fit the description of my car. Average Retail Value: This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A “20-footer”. My car is the most desired year for the model, 1973 which I realize are minor details. Best engine as emissions were solved that year with hemispherical combustion chambers Desired body design (round tail lights) and the last year with European bumpers One of the most desirable colors (Turkis). No rust at all though there has been some rust repaired over the years with new metal. The interior is almost perfect including new factory carpet and rubber seals. Matching numbers with all original driveline. Motor was rebuilt 100k ago with new oversized pistons, fully balanced and blueprinted. Transmission also rebuilt with all new bearings and tuned synchronizers. Brakes, steering, and suspension maintained to top quality, sport tuned, and BMWCCA performance inspected. All gauges (speedo, odometer, tachometer, fuel, temp.), electrical (lights, signals, wipers, fans), and heat/defrost work. Body has a minor ding to be repaired this winter. I don’t know if the information below from craigslist and ebay is useful. Let me know if you need something more, like actual sales prices if I can find them. My car is has a 2 barrel carburetor and is not a tii. Tii’s are fuel injected, with some minor brake and suspensions differences and command higher prices so I did not include any tii’s. Hi! Is anyone aware of any way around the "you must have another car" rule to get classic car insurance? I live in NYC and don't have or need a daily driver, yet I want to insure my garage kept, limited miles, occasionally driven 2002 for it's true replacement/collectors value. Am I out of luck?

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I've ventured from the For Sale pages and into the discussion, so I'll introduce myself and my predicament. I've finally reached the point where my '76 Fjord is street legal and reliable enough to serve as my second car to venture to shops, shows, other areas of light usage, et cetera. Problem is, I've had a hell of a time getting it insured. I'm twenty with just over four years of 'legal' driving experience, a daily driver, a locked and isolated garage to store the car in, and a clean driving record. The car's value is greater than most company's minimums. No accidents in recent memory to report within the rest of the household. In the interest of cost savings, I've been trying to get the car insured with me listed as the 'secondary' driver, with my father as the 'primary.' Besides cost savings, I figured it'd be easier to get the car insured under a name with 20+ years of driving experience as opposed to my paltry four. Nonetheless, both Hagerty and American Collectors Insurance have denied my applications under the guise that all drivers of the car must have five or more years of experience. Really sucks to be honest considering how much work I've put into the car getting it street legal and reliable only to have something like this keep the car off the road. The longer it's off the road, the more I tend to loose interest . . . Anyways, does anyone have any advice as to what steps I should take in getting the car registered? Am I SOL until I reach that five-year point? Which companies have you had the best luck with? Cheers, Emmanuel H.

I applied for coverage with hagerty and they said they can't insure my car due to it being parked in a carport with less than 3 walls(appartment parking there's no way around it for me), and because my daily driver is over 20 years old(I drive an 84 Toyota celica). Do you know other classic car insurance companies that do not have these stipulations?

(I searched past threads about this topic, but none seemed to address my specific issue) Has anyone here been able to get classic/vintage agreed value comprehensive/collision coverage if your '02 is your only car, and it's not stored in a private, stand-alone garage? I've been unable to find an insurance company that doesn't require both that you own another (i.e. primary) vehicle, and that you have a separate, locked garage for your classic. It's frustrating because I live in New York (where I don't need a car) and my car lives in Los Angeles (long story) so even though it gets driven very little and is in a secured, albeit shared, parking garage (under an apartment building), companies like Hagerty and Chubb classify it as a daily driver if you don't own another car, and they don't consider a storage situation like mine to be sufficient. This is a desirable problem, as '02s are only increasing in value, but right now I'm only one accident or theft away from a total loss. Thanks
