  1. Ever since I bought my 69, I've been wondering when and why BMW removed the marking on the ignition switch "Garage" Thanks to the Service Bulletins pdfs in the History and Reference section:
  2. Looking for ignition starter switch. I just need the electrical part but will take the lock tumbler part too if you don't want to separate
  3. Hi all, I am looking to purchase an ignition switch for an 1969 1602. Mine is worn and starts the car in a run position. I am not sure if there is a difference between the early cars and the later cars, so I posted a picture of the connections on the one in my car. I just need the switch, not the tumbler, or key. I am thinking flat rate shipping, if it fits, it ships, since the item is so small. Let me know what you are asking. Thanks
  4. My 75 was starting fine one day and then the next stopped to start. When turning the key, the only thing I would hear is one big clicking noise from the engine bay. -Battery is new and charged. (Still tried to jump start the car) -Tried to apply 12v to the starter directly which cranked the engine. I searched the forum and was targeting the interlock relay as the most probable cause. Looking near the steering column, there seems to be no such relay... Looks like it could have been removed by a previous owner. Although I'm still getting this "fasten seatbelt" light and music show every time I turn the key to Fahrt. 1) Most write ups about this issue are on 74s. Is the location of the relay on 75s the same? 2) Am I Blind? 3) Any other troubleshooting ideas based on the symptoms? My reference post is the following: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/index.php?/topic/93425-How-To-Bypass-Seatbelt-Interlock-System-on-1974-BMW-2002A Here is a picture of under my dash: Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Looking for very good condition complete ignition/door lock set.
  8. Ive never had a problem with this but one day as I tried tried to start my car to go to work the key wouldn't fit in the ignition switch. It would only go in about halfway so it wouldn't let me turn the ignition switch. Since then Ive pulled the ignition out and have been fiddling with the key and ignition to try to make it work. Has this happened to any of you before?? I called a locksmith and was quoted at $250 - $350 for fixing the lock or making a key whatever made it work again. Obviously I am trying to get around this by fixing it myself but thus far nothing has worked. My friend actually picked the lock with a paper clip and I was able to turn the key several times but it locked up again and wont work again. I haven't been able to pick it again. Any suggestions??
  9. I have changed the stock transmission for a getrag 265. This comes without speedometer cable. To accommodate this I have bought a Dakota digital ecd-101 electric to mechanic speedo converter. I bought also a vw transmission vehicle speed sensor, and all this is connected, and working now. My question is where is the best place to put the positive wire? The power to the device should be turned off and on by the ignition switch. The radio wire is already used by the radio, so is there another place to attach it? My guess is that the converter, although a tiny electric motor can draw some current. Don't want to fry anything.
