  1. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1565138-e36-lsd-internals-fit-into-e21-case I came across this thread about a guy taking an e36 LSD and swapping the internals into an e21 case. He makes it look very easy. Has anyone done this with a 2002 open diff? I'm looking for alternatives to an E21 LSD because they are very hard to come by, and the cost is getting ridiculous. Any suggestions are appreciated!

  15. Hey all, I'm going to be doing a M42 swap into my '02, but I'm a bit stumped on the electronics. Im pulling some parts out of a donor car (e36), what electrical components will I need to grab? I've already grabbed battery cables, and all of the electrical components in the engine bay are disconnected. But, the fuse box has a lot of cables running through the firewall into the dash of the donor car which aren't just a simple 'unplug'. Do I need any of that? I ask because it's going to be a big job taking apart the donor cars dash to get all that wiring out. My instinct is that it's not needed.. but when it comes to electricals I'm fairly hopeless! Thanks,
  16. came upon a lonely E36 SCCA race car that needed a new home badly as the owner's wife was evicting it from the garage. it had not been raced since 2010. JGerock and i drove 3.5hrs to pick it up on friday, then drove to Summit Point race track for SCCA race weekend. It needs some love...and a bunch of suspension tuning..but it lasted the weekend! with its teammates. it even came with the 18ft aluminum trailer underneath it in this pic. like i needed another car, race or otherwise. ooops!
  17. Does any know what color alloy the E36 wheels are on the basket weaves. Mine are faded and I want to freshen them up before the Vintage I usually get my paint at Colors if any has the paint number
  18. Price:: 350 obo Location: : Pico Rivera/ Los Angeles Up for sale is a 3.23 LSD from a 2000 M roadster with 70k miles on. it's 350 obo offer. From what I know, it can go into an e30 diff and the e30 diff can go into an '02, but I don't really know. Also have an E21 head for $100 obo. The head came from a basket case and I know nothing of it. Im building an '02 so I need to sell things. I know it seems odd to be placed but seeing if they may work for someone.
  19. Price:: 200 Location: : Charlotte, NC uncovered the roof rack for my old E36 at my folks house. includes a ski rack, gaskets, wrench and keys. looking for $200 OBO, if you are interested I can send photos.
  20. I'm a 17 year old kid and I have fallen in love with these cars. I found a 1969 sitting in a building and bought it for $1200, now I'm in the process of restoring it and have found out that it needs a differential. Doing some research online and on this forum a bought an e36 lsd to swap into my car not realizing that I needed a different stock differential. My VIN is 1663286 and my title says its a 1969. another post on the forum said that a later subframe can be swapped but that includes a new differential case as well. Is there any thing that I can do to make this differential fit in my car? Thanks in advance, Chris N
  21. I was watching this video posted by another member here: BMW 2002 Turbo Restoration. They used an E36 spare tire well.. Has anyone done this before? Junk e36s are plentiful, and getting a spare tire well should be cheap and easy. What sort of problems would I run into?

  23. Please see the listing here on Bimmerfest for further pics! http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10507441#post10507441 Here is your chance to own a modern car with a classic body. For sale is a 1972 BMW 2002 in excellent shape (except for the front end damage). The car has all records going back 20 years and we have been the only owners since 2005 when it was purchased in Oregon and driven cross country back to Virginia. What do I mean by modern car? See below:- Engine is a professionally installed M43B18 from a 1994 E36- Transmission is an E21 short-shift 5 speed manual, entire transmission replaced in 2016- Borla stainless exhaust- Minimal rust on body (see pics)- Interior replaced in 2005- Momo steering wheel and shift knob- Nakamichi 4-speaker stereo with aux input- 15" Panasport wheels with new Westlake RP18 tires installed June 2017- New binnacle and recent service June 2017All service since 2005 was performed at J&F Motors in Arlington. They are highly familiar with this car and it is one of the few classic BMWs they work on considering the modern mechanicals. Unfortunately, we hit a deer up the road from our house, and now there is front end damage. Pics below show everything. We have decided to move on to a new vehicle, and are quoted roughly ~$9000 to repair the front end, bracket, hood, and radiator. The car still runs, and there is a CLEAN TITLE . This is NOT a salvage vehicle.Price is a negotiable $4000 OBOCar is located in Marshall, VA. Please message me if interested! Thanks for looking and taking the time to read this far!

    M3 on a lift

Scope creep sets in once again.... so my 97 M3 is 20years old this month. I have had it since new, and after 20 years, 98k miles, and some track time...it is time to refresh a bunch of bits, including most of the rubber. I had trashed the PFZ brake pads overdriving them, just a little, at the last track event, so i started with the front brakes. up, up and away! front calipers rebuilt and painted, new brake lines, new rotors and sway bar adjusted. i had already redone all the bushings up front two years ago. and then the back of the car fell off..piece by piece. first the diff e-brake assemblies trailing arm....at which point i found out the upper and lower outer control arm bushings were shot. argh. they are a pita to press. then the rear subframe. the four subframe bushings are the things you need to change at 100k on E36's....when they crack the flex causes the subframe mounts to rip out of the bottom of the car. creative use of tool chest and jack...the high lift tranny jack has not arrived yet. enough for one day. the shop is definitely starting to look....used!
  25. It is ON. I meant to post it here sooner. Life gets in the way sometimes. The date: Saturday, SEPTEMBER 21st. This time, it's a one-day event. We will meet at our traditional meeting point, the gas station in Wilder, KY at 0830. We will proceed from there. Lunch will be at the Blue Licks State Park lodge. We will have dinner in Maysville, KY that evening. I have reservations for the night at the Hampton Inn on the AA Highway in Maysville, but I hear that they are now booked solid. There is another option: the nearby Quality Inn has rooms. (Phone: 606-759-5696) Jason is working up a route for us, so get ready to rumble! Next fall, we plan to return to Sabbathsong Farm with the Boatmans. Our 10 year anniversary edition sorta fell through. This should be a fun run nonetheless.
