  1. For sale is the ignition system from my 2002. Going the M42 route. Spark wires and Pertronix are new as of October 2019 and have seen less than 1000 miles of use. Distributor and cap came with the car and work with no issues. Cap shows some wear on the points. See photos for more details. I'm willing to split items if need be. Prices don't include shipping. All items pictured - distributor, cap, Pertronix, and wires - $150 Distributor and cap - $80 Pertronix - $70 Spark wires (KARLYN-STI Spark Plug Wire Set 12121360842) - $25
  2. WTB - Looking for a good condition 1977-79 M10 E21 320i distributor part number 0231180008 or 0231170214. I bought a 1975 2002 with a E21 E10 motor in it. It has a 2002 distributor that is being made to rotate counter clockwise. As far as I know, these two E21 distributors that I'm looking for are set-up to rotate counter clockwise and also have points in them. Found a couple on ebay, but they're looking kinda worn and have play in them. Any help is appreciated. THX, Andy
  3. Complete fully assembled MEGAJOLT EDIS 4 ignition system. - Megajolt ecu - EDIS 4 module. (Ford escort) - Coil pack (Ford escort) - Bosch VR sensor - 02again.com crank pulley 36-1 trigger-wheel - 02again.com Sensor bracket /extended bolts - 02again.com distributor plug - Megajolt software for plotting custom maps. Or default settings. Ran the system for nearly a year. No issues whatsoever going to sell the car and buyer wants original look. Ready to hook up. Ran the ECU positive to the ignition and ran the Coil directly to the battery. I have videos of the bench test if interested. Thanks for looking.
  4. Clean with oil switch. Price includes shipping to the U.S w paypal (friend preferred).
  5. I am very pleased with the 123Bluetooth Distributor recommended by 2002 Garage Werks! Tesoro fires up nice and strong every time! Plus, having it bluetooth, the settings are always at your own fingertips! Love this new upgrade!
  6. When I started the car it was idling funny. Different than the normal cold start. It warmed up enough and sounded ok. I drive 500 feet (slowly in a parking lot) and then it dies when I give it gas upon entering the road. Won't start back up. Under the hood I see that the distributor cap had popped off. Not sure how that happened...seems really weird. The cap and distributor were dirty. It looks like there's oil sitting inside and grease inside the cap. Unfortunately I wiped it all away before I took any pictures, but there are pictures below anyway. I put it back on and the car starts, but dies after a few seconds. I read elsewhere on the FAQ that oil can get inside and cause problems, and to use some carb cleaner to clean it up (which I plan on doing when I get home). My question is, since this is a fancy Bluetooth dizzy did the dirt and oil destroy the electronics or whatever is inside? Any other helpful thoughts, suggestions, or wise cracks to entertain me as I wait for the tow truck?
  7. I just acquired a dizzy (# 0 231 115 081) and oddly, the housing doesn't have a tab to align the cap. I'm aware of two Bosch caps - 03010 which has a male tab for a female-notched housing, and 03012 which has a female notch for a male-tabbed housing. Anyone aware of a solution to this? I don't trust the clips to hold the cap perfectly still. Also, I was cleaning the inside and getting it lubed, and there a little gasket that has fallen apart. It was directly under the weights in that third photo above. Is this gasket necessary? If so, does anyone know where to find that part? Thanks everyone. - Garrett
  8. I'm looking for the one with only one vacuum port, i.e. without vacuum retard. 1974'ish or thereabouts. message me if you can help lay a hand on one! thanks so much, -Ben
  9. I recently had my mechanic install a 123+ on my new engine, running a 38/38. Do you guys use the vacuum port / map function of the 123+? I am unfamiliar with using those settings, or how I would go about understanding their relationship to my preferred curve. I suppose my car is most like a 2002 Ti now with the beefy carb and 292 cam. Cheers, Chris
  10. Perhaps somebody can help me with the "Bosch 0231115045" distributor I have in my 1968 BMW 2000 NK. As a result from searching online, I can not find any applications on early BMW's for the Bosch 0231115045 distributor. From my "searches", I see that this particular distributor is use on Mercedes. My engine is the original M10 with "Hotspark" ignition. In the near future, I would like to switch out the Bosch 0231115045, does anyone know if this could be switched out and replaced with say "Pertronix"? Or is there a rebuild kit for this model? Any insight and guidance would be much appreciated.
  11. Ive searched as much as i can stand and i still have not found an answer. I have a 1976 2002 and because i live in silly california it a smog tested vehicle. Ive had a stumbling issue and recently an odd grinding noise coming from the engine bay. After fully inspecting the ignition system i noticed the rotor on the distributor has some deep scratches on it and the contacts inside the cap have some pretty deep scratches and marks in them. I think the grinding noise i have been hearing is the rotor striking the contact points and its causing my stumbling issue. The shaft of the distributor seems fairly loose (1/8 inch of movement up/down and right/left) and I'm sure the bushings inside are shot. I was looking for a rebuild kit without any luck and my next option was the IE Tii distributor with electronic ignition but because my distributor Bosch 0 231 176 059 is a vacuum advanced model i wasn't sure if I would still pass smog with it. Does anyone have an answer for me?
  12. Hi all - As part of my continuing refreshing / improving the tii, I am going to have the distributor rebuilt at Advanced Distributors. I am looking at the Blue Book, and it looks to me like the euro tii and USA version have slightly different advance curves. Can anyone confirm / deny this? I want to make sure the rebuild is correct - that I'm giving the correct info to Advanced. My car is a '72 tii, euro, 9.5 compression, E12 head w/aluminum runners. Thanks in advance (get it?) Scott
  13. I picked up this Motor: import car repair manual (3rd edition) book at an estate sale and it has quite some useful info. I don't know if I'll document all of it, but I wanted to share at least this Distributor specification chart:
  14. The company nixed their forum page on the .nl website. So as an exercise called "bored-at-work-can-I-and-how-cheap", I propped this up for 2$ and a morning..I'm still tweaking it. Not sure if it will go anywhere, but I figure they are global, so if word gets out it will be very handy for the DIY folks.. www.123igfaq.com
  15. I have searched and searched, all over the net not just here, and can’t seem to get a handle on this. If this is a simple noob issue I am OK with that. At times my ignorance knows no bounds. I am trying to figure out whether I need a ballast or not. Installed or being installed: IE Distributor with their electronics (planned) 002 Distributor with Pertronix (being removed for the IE Dist due to slop) MSD 6A box (installed) MSD Blaster 2 coil (planned) MSD Tach Adapter (planned) 8mm wires (installed) New plugs (can’t remember the numbers) Ballast (current) Do I need the ballast? Anything else I need to worry about? Like frying everything because the MSD box and Blaster are too much for the distributor electronics? Thanks for any help!
  16. Possible stupid question: For a Bosch distributor that has been converted to Pertronix electronic ignition: Should the vac advance tube connect back to the carb, or is it totally unnecessary? (standard 1970 2002 with Weber 32/36)
  17. For those looking for advance springs for the 0 231 180 005 distributor (and 008?), part no. 12111351439, I believe I´m not the first having trouble finding them - I just ordered from Jaymic. They didn´t have them listed on the web site (they will shortly), but they had in stock. I´ve been looking all around for these springs, since I´ve gathered the other parts for a rebuild earlier. So now the dizzy comes out and gets sent off to the man with the machine. And Fay and David is a pure pleasure to deal with. I know you should choose the springs when testing in Sun-type bench, but the guy doing it for me hasn´t worked distributors in a while, so his supply of springs is a bit short. (But he did, a lot, before. A very respected man for building performance engines in Sweden. BMW´s, Cortinas, Escorts and Formula cars.) Anyhow, I thought stock springs would be the way to start. And it should come out correct, I guess. At least for my stock engine, apart from Weber 38 and headers. So, Jaymic has got them. Not BMW springs, but remanufactured and I guess that works fine if done right. Their part no is 02EL.0510. And I´m happy!!
  18. Anyone using the tii style distributor from I.E. ? If so any of you have any reviews or suggestions about the product? Looking to replace my distributor. Thank you in advance for any feed back from the best forum on the planet
  19. I have an oil leak coming from my distributor body. it is dripping out of the vent holes in the lower surface of the main body. I do not have any leaks coming from the housing bolted to the block. I also replaced the o-ring on the distributor neck and have verified no leaks. Pulled the unit and the LOWER seal at the driven gear is very loose/worn. Looking for a source to buy a new seal, but all I have seen so far is a full Bosch rebuild kit (pn 1237010007). Any comments/advice on replacing just that lower seal? BTW... this is an electronic ignition dist from an E21. Runs real well, but the oil drips right onto the header
  20. Hey all, Is there too much play in my distributor's rotor? And here's what the car sounds like when I try to start it Thanks for you help!
  21. I'm looking for an original vacuum-advance distributor. Not sure, but the part number might end in 002? I have the tii mechanical advance dizzy on my non-tii and I want to go back to stock. Thanks, Garrett

  24. I am replacing my worn out dizzy with a new one from Ireland Engineering. My car is a 1975 so it should have the built in 0.9 ohm resistor wire, but it seems the PO removed it. I'm installing both the new distributor and a new red coil, and which means I'll also have to install a ballast resistor. Is the attached image the correct way to wire all these up? I've read through a bunch of posts about ballast resistors but nothing talks about how to add one, just remove them. Thanks all!
  25. According realoem, there is no wave washer between the sealing gasket washer and the bolt head. Is this correct? (#14 and #15) Before I torque this down I was hoping someone could take a look at the photo of my setup to make sure its location is correct. Should I remove the wave washer before proceeding? Thanks guys.
