  1. My parts from Germany finally came! Some really rare pieces that I am so proud to own! Tesoro is truly a treasure! Items included are: Early Kidney Grille NLA 2 piece EURO DASH (NO CRACKS!!) E21 Door Panel pockets Hirschmann Antenna with Red Jewel tip And the EVER RARE 2000ti Lux silver dollar instrument cluster with km/h (notice the 220km/h!)
  2. These are some photos of my repair of the badly damaged 3 piece dash in my 1600 project. I wasn't willing to spend $1500 on a new old stock dash, so dropped less than $200 to fix the old. Plus, I just wanted to see if it was possible. Items needed: 1 x horrible Dash Breather filter, mask rated for toxic fumes 2 x Cans Padded Dash filler Glazing putty – your preference Assortment of putty knives and body filler spreaders Metal mixing tray Assorted grits of sand paper 300-800 Texturizing spray. (I would not go this route again, but rather spray the dash matte black and then flock it.) The dash in the sunlight really shows the extent of the damage. Thing about southwest cars is the body tends to hold up well, but everything else goes to pot -- rubber parts, seats, gaskets, dashes, etc. Large pieces needed to be removed to get down to a stable foam base. The dash was very badly damaged. I picked off the overlay material and worked down until I found stable foam underneath. More deconstruction The nitty gritty -- used Padded dash filler. This stuff does exactly what it is designed for. It is quite expensive though. A small can is $24 and I needed two. Additionally, you must wear a carbon filtered respirator / air filter. The fumes are very toxic. I used putty knifes and body filler tools to apply the product. After filling and worked with fine grit sand paper, can’t remember the exact grit, but don't get too aggressive, or you'll undo all your work. Here is the instrument cover reworked with the padded dash filler, glazed and sanded. Applied glazing putty to provide a nice, smooth surface. I also used a texturizer spray from SEM called Clear Texture Coating. It is probably the worst product in the world - the nozzle clogs constantly, and it sprays fine mist and large globs at the same time. So I knocked it down with a few brisk swipe of fine grit sand paper and then finished the dash in an interior matte paint that sprayed a little too glossy for my taste, but... The end product. I gave it a good test squeeze and couple of good pokes to see if the stuff would crack and it holds up really well with a good deal of pliability. The padded dash filler really is an impressive product. I may use it to repair my sun baked Nardi Steering wheel. I may still flock the dash board, if it’s cost effective.

  9. Hi, I am relatively new to the web site. I am in the process of restoring a 1976 2002. I recently purchased a parts car that was in a barn for the past 20 years. Among other things it has a mint, crack free dashboard that I want to remove and put in my car. Does anyone have any helpful tips, instructions, what not to do, etc. on how to remove the dashboard. I have everything around it removed - cluster, glove box, center column (radio, ash tray, hazard switch) and steering wheel & cover as well as all the screws I can see from under the dash. Thoughts on next steps? Does the windshield need to be removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Doug

  15. Price:: 800 Location: : Utah I have a Late model 2002 dash for sale, I was told it was from a 1976 but I am not 100% sure. it has been in storage out of the sun for 15+ years. It is in near crack-less condition. It does have a few very small hairline cracks on either side of the back on top where the gauge cluster is (shown in pictures) and a couple small ones in the tray area. it has a few blemishes that i have shown in the pictures. It is not perfect but it is in what i consider very good condition. I don't know what i should ask on the price so please message with an offer and we can work out a fair price. From what I have estimated shipping will be around $80 to most places in the U.S. If you are a serious buyer just send me a message and we can work out the details. I can send more pictures if you like. I want the buyer to be satisfied with the condition, so if you need more information please ask. Thanks Sean

  19. Never seen this before.Euro dash. Is this from a 1502? Due to the lack of holes for the switches. Assuming that the latest 1502s got the least accessories etc. Also has a hole for the glove box lock, like in the Voll/cabrios!
  20. Price:: 11 Location: : WA For those of you interested, I have a small batch of dashboard letter stencils that were misprinted. There are two types of sets: $13/shipped: No 'S' printed on Wiper Speed ( 'Wiper peed' ) $11/shipped: No 'S' printed on both Wiper Speed & Lights ( 'Wiper peed' & 'Light ) If you are interested in a set, please let me know what type & we can work out the details (payment + shipping address). Shipping is included for US only, international postage extra. Thanks, Mo Faraz
  21. So my two piece dash on my '72 is pretty shot and it seems like the newer one-piece dashes are more available. What are people doing to correct the labels for the switches when putting a one-piece dash in an older car? I've searched a bit and haven't seen any aftermarket decals offered, but maybe I missed something? I am referring specifically to the fan speed and wiper speed switches that become fog light and defrost switches on the newer cars. Thanks for any guidance!
  22. The decals are finally ready and I would like to post the installation guide(s) for all three (3) options: 1) BEHR A/C (stencil) 2) Shift pattern (decal) 3) Instrument lettering (stencil) For purchasing info, please visit the classifieds section: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/174999-behr-ac-dash-lettering-shift-patterns/ The steps are straightforward & I hope this will serve as the definitive reference thread for all who have expressed interest. Best wishes, Mo Faraz
