Hi All, I'm looking into some new wheels for my '75 2002 and came across these BBS RG-Fs (RG 359) that seem like a nice fit. Haven't seen anyone running them on a 2002 though. Does anyone have any experience with them? If so, I had a few questions: 1. Do you need the PFS rings and clips, like these 70mm to 57.1mm? 2. Did you need spacers to bring the 33mm offset closer to 25mm? Anything else I need to consider? My car is mostly stock but it came to me with Ireland Engineering Stage 1 sport springs and sway bar set and Bilstein HD springs and Rota 15 x 7 wheels on 195/50R15 tires. Thanks in advance!

Building a set of BBS wheels and starting to plan
sprout1600itb posted a blog entry in Resto-mod of a '69 1602
I already had parts sitting around for the '68 that I knew I wanted to use on the '69, so great, at least we aren't having a massive project shift. My plan for the wheels was simple: remove all of the polished bolts: one becuase they were improperly polished or chromed, and replace the rear hoops with 1 inch depth hoops that i'd aquired in Germany. I was hoping for a staggered look like more modern BMWs. It also got rid of two hoops that were damaged in shipping (bite me DHL). Note to self, try and find wheels that are domestically, and readily available. I bought these in England when I was- 4 comments

The new Hottness - Say Hello to the 1969
sprout1600itb posted a blog entry in Resto-mod of a '69 1602
So, I went to Burlingame. I was amazed. I took it to Beamers in Redwood City had the PPI done. I paid cash. A week later the Dr. dropped the car off to me in San Jose. It's a 1969 1602 that wasn't exactly original, but it was in great shape. Someone had done the conversion of the engine to a 1974 bottom end and a 1980 121T head (seems like a rather odd choice for this car, but it seems to work, if anyone has info on that specific head, I would welcome knowledge...I've heard they aren't exactly common heads). [Photo attached.] This car moves in a way that no other 02 I've driven has moved, -

Interior stripped, treated and coated
02Guru posted a blog entry in If money can't buy happiness. At least it can buy 02s.
I was able to make some progress on the interior today. Got the rest of the floorpans striped and inspected for rust then treated and sealed. Driver floorpan left untouched as it will be completely replaced when it goes to paint. The exposed wiring above is the custom wiring harness that in progress. Until next time -Tyler -
The car was bought as known project sight unseen from Chicago, IL as a "rust free" type of project just to assemble and be a driver. Upon arrival of the car we noticed that was not entirely the case and realized this car will go under almost a full nut/bolt refurbish/restoration with a touch of our own outlaw flare while maintaining true to BMW heritage. Once we received the car it was immediately placed onto the lift to inspect and see where to go with the project. The car was about 80% rust free other than the absolute known common areas- pedal box as well as driver side rocker panel towards

Well I bought a custom made set of wheels from Paul Ehrlich in NC. He provided me with most excellent customer service and an amazing set of BBS RS widened and redrilled to 4x100. Now I will begin the whole turbo flare mock-up and work on finishing some other body issues. Also - I was just given a motorcycle stand - looks like a motor drop is in my future. 😊

Here is a small update on the Style 5 rims that I am using on the car. I found these at a local salvage yard for $300. They had the usual curb rash and the clear coat was peeling. Cosmetically, the barrels were pretty bad. I used various stages of grit to remove the curb rash and polish the barrels to a mirror finish. I finished the polish with a polishing compound and light cutting jeweler's rouge on a shaggy buffing wheel. This project was beyond tedious, and only recommended for true skin flints and insomniacs. I took the rims apart and set out to polish the barrels.

The car has been at the bodyshop for over 2 moths and is now down to bare metal. There were a lot of things hiding underneath all the bondo on the car. Not a straight panel on the car but I find comfort in the fact that this car is getting the proper bodywork done after 40 years of shitty paint jobs and bad bodywork. As you can see from the pictures, there is a lot of hammering to be done. While the car has been at the body shop these last 2 months, I've been getting more and more anxious to get it back so I decided to make some door panels from scratch with the help of my bad ass Mom who

Parts Collecting Things have been slow with the 2002, it's taken a lot longer to get in parts then I had anticipated. Not many big updates in this post, mostly just parts collecting. The first guy I had arranged to trade hubs with flaked out, and it took a few weeks to find someone willing to sell me a set. Fortunately they have arrived. I also have all new wheel bearings ready to go when it's time to do the swap. I've also ordered all new brake components, including braided hoses. Figured I might as well upgrade while I'm in there. My R

So this is a pretty small update, but there's a change in plans with my wheel selection. Originally I was planning on building up the OZ Vega faces that I had sitting around. Given the 2002 was already converted to 5x120, I figured this would work out great. While I was told that 30-hole RS parts will bolt up to these faces, I have some concerns about the "how". After breaking down my RSs to steal the barrels, I realized that the back of the Vega face doesn't have a machined lip for the barrel to sit on. My worry is, this would put a lot more stress on the bolts, as there isn't a

BMW M2 with S54 engine - As it sits
heinemann posted a blog entry in heinemann's s54 swap into 1600 roundie
Haven't posted in a while. Thought I'd provide a pic of the car as it sits now. Drove this junk up from Texas through New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri (Misery), Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, to PA. Handles beautifully, not too harsh considering the suspension spring rate. The Toyo HP's performed flawlessly when I hit a snow storm on the Penna Turnpike. You may notice I lost a wiper blade and arm, also on the turnpike. If anyone has a wiper arm with the airfoil please let me know. Waiting till spring to get the seats and door cards reupholstered, but otherwise I am super happy with the car. The thing- 2 comments
