Event Title: Not The 49-Mile Drive 2018 Event Author: layers Event Date: 12/08/2018 09:00 AM NT49MD-2018— Not the 49 Mile Drive , Saturday 8 December, 2018 Not the 49 Mile Drive, the BayArea 02 annual rally, arrives in San Francisco again on December 8 (2nd Saturday in December). As before, we'll meet at OceanBeach between 9 and 9:30 AM. Many of you may recall that we assemble across The Great Highway from Beach Chalet on the West end of Golden GatePark. Fulton St. is the cross street and turning left from Fulton St. onto Great Highway, the entrance to the OceanBeach parking lot is immediately from the extreme right lane. Following our driver's meeting (navigators and family welcome), all cars will be off by 10:00 AM. After discovering some major, minor and potentially weird roads around San Francisco (we never leave The City) we will meet again for lunch at a restaurant and review the photos in the handout that each navigator will have numbered during the rally in the order of observation. Rallymeister Pete Petras is working hard to create our rally route. He works in The City so he has many fun and delightful highways, byways and alleys readily at hand to help us find the hidden gems, gorgeous views and awkward avenues that make San Francisco such an intriguing adventure for all of us living nearby. Join us for the fun rally, see your friends, learn and enjoy some of San Francisco’s road history and quirks, and, of course, share your BMW tales. We recommend driving with a navigator (Wells Fargo would call the navigator someone riding "shotgun"), so the driver can drive and the crew can give turn instructions and watch for the rally photos to number in viewing order. Solo drivers are also welcome, although there could be a navigator or two available before drivers get underway. Kids are always welcome to ride along, provide keen eyes and share lunch! To see photos from previous “NT49MD” rallies, look at [http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/174801-2015-bay-area-2002-not-the-49-mile-scenic-drive/#entry1079809 ] and [https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/184275-not-the-49-mile-drive-2016/]. Watch FAQ’s BayArea 02 Forum for the latest details [http://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/forum/30-bayarea02/ ] but be sure to highlight 8 December on your calendar for the NT49MD-2018 rally! Larry Ayers Hey, do you want a T-shirt with Rallymeister Pete Petras' neat graphic on the front? Go to MotorsportReg [https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/not-49-mile-drive-ocean-beach-parking-lot-bay-area-02-group-410627] and order! Note, there is no need to pre-register (just like previous NT49MD rallys) but going to MotorsportReg is the only way to order and pay for a shirt. The shirt you can order between Saturday, 10 November and Sunday, 25 November is a white, long-sleeve T-shirt with a crew neck (like our Swap & Show shirts but long sleeves) and the graphic filling the front. (Note that you just see the top of Pete's graphic here; I'll make a separate post with the full image at [Full T-shirt graphic]). Choose from adult sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large or XX-Large. The cost is $20 each. After the ordering closes on 25 November, we will have the shirt you ordered printed and we'll bring it to the NT49MD rally. Last day to order a T-shirt now extended to 29 Nov. (Thursday). Not The 49-Mile Drive 2018

Not the 49 Mile Drive , BayArea 02's annual rally, comes to San Francisco again on December 14 (2nd Saturday in December). We will meet at OceanBeach as in previous years, between 9 and 9:30 AM. Fulton St. is the cross street and turning left from Fulton St. onto Great Highway , the entrance to the OceanBeach parking lot is immediately from the extreme right lane. Rallymeister Pete Petras is working diligently on our rally route which is almost finalized. He works in The City so he has many fun and delightful highways, byways and avenues readily at hand to help us find the hidden gems, gorgeous views and surprising streets (and maybe some awkward allies) that make San Francisco such an intriguing adventure for all of us living in the Bay Area realm. Join us for the fun rally, see your friends, learn and enjoy some of San Francisco’s road history and quirks, and, of course, share your BMW tales. We recommend driving with a navigator (Wells Fargo would say someone riding "shotgun", but BMW did not make Wells Fargo stage coaches), so the driver can drive and the crew can give turn instructions and watch for the rally photo locations to number in viewing order. Solo drivers are also welcome, although there could be a navigator or two available before drivers get underway. Kids are always welcome to ride along, provide keen eyes and share lunch! Event Title: Postponed - Swap & Show 2020 Event Location: 500 Sierra Point Parkway, Brisbane, California, 94005 Event Author: layers Event Date: 05/02/2020 10:00 AM to 05/02/2020 03:00 PM POSTPONED until 12 September! BayArea 02 Swap & Show, 2 May 2020, Marina at Brisbane, California. As before, the address is 500 Sierra Point Parkway, along the Bay on the North side of Sierra Point. Preregister on Motorsportreg (see link below). Preregistration is $25 while the on-site fee on 2 May will be $30. Kile Brekke continues to show his artistic flare with the graphics and has again added his art for our T-shirts and printed materials; we expect the shirts, posters and cards to be popular once again! Please preregister early to help us plan. Preregistration will open on 1 March at [Preregistration for Swap & Show-2020 on MotorsportREG]. We expect it to end on 26 April 2020, so do NOT plan on a last-minute signup (we need a few days to get stuff ready...). Note— Swap & Show visitors are welcome! There is no fee for entry if you do not show your car or swap parts. However, we strongly encourage anyone with a BMW of our vintage to bring your car to display, no matter how mundane your daily driver (dirt, rust and all, which may be surprisingly photogenic) or how Instagram-friendly your restoration. There is no judging your car so there will be no points for extra dirt, missing dirt, artistic (!?) rust or matching luggage. We smile at all BMW's and photographs or videos are welcome (but NO drones over cars)! ********************************************************************************************* Like so many other events, Swap & Show-2020 is postponed until 12 September, over 4 months later. While some things might be able to happen in May, a car show does not seem likely about 4 weeks from now. And looking at the calendar and other possible events, 12 September does not (yet?) seem to have any conflict. Just to lift our spirits, the Brisbane Marina Turfmeister tells me he keeps the grass green throughout the Fall so our cars should still look good. Please mark your calendars for 12 September at the Brisbane Marina-- we'll keep registration open on MotorsportREG. Larry Postponed - Swap & Show 2020

NT49MD-20 Pete route & photos checked 201206.pdf Welcome to NT49MD-20 announcements and drivers protocol 201207.doc Not the 49 Mile Drive, BayArea 02's annual rally, comes to San Francisco again on December 12 (2nd Saturday in December). At about 9:30 A.M. we will meet at a new location: in The Presidio across the street from the Officer’s Club (50 Moraga Ave ., the Moraga Parking Lot). From here you can start route instructions and driving protocol you downloaded and can purchase a NT40MD-20 T-shirt or a BayArea 02 mask. Rather than a driver's meeting please download the driving protocol sheet; all cars will be off by 10:00 AM. After encountering some major, minor and probably weird roads and alleys around San Francisco (we never leave The City) we will meet again in a parking lot to review the photos in the handout that each navigator will have numbered during the rally in the order of observation. Note: in deference to the pandemic, this year does NOT include lunch! Pandemic rules: if anyone is at all sick, please do NOT come! Wear your mask at all times when outside; social distance at least 6Ft.; clean your hands often. Please be careful— we do NOT want any spread of the corona virus from or to anyone! Rallymeister Pete Petras has our rally route ready for your download. He works in The City so he can easily encounter the fun and delightful highways, byways and avenues that help us discover hidden gems, gorgeous views and surprising streets that make San Francisco such a unique adventure for all of us living in the Bay Area. Join us for the fun rally, wave at your friends from a social distance and learn and enjoy some of San Francisco’s road history and quirks. We recommend driving with a navigator from your family, so the driver can drive and the crew can give turn instructions and watch for the rally photo locations to number in viewing order. Solo drivers are also welcome. Kids are always welcome to ride along and provide keen eyes! Be sure to highlight 12 December on your calendar for the NT49MD-2020 rally! Note: You can see a few photos from NT49MD-2019 at [https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/253416-nt49md-2019%E2%80%94-not-the-49-mile-drive-saturday-14-december-20/]. Photos from 2015 are at [http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/174801-2015-bay-area-2002-not-the-49-mile-scenic-drive/#entry1079809 ]. Larry Ayers IMPORTANT ADDITIONS!! I added the files for Route Instructions and Driver's Protocol-- PLEASE download these files and print them for your reference on 12 December or save them on your portable computer to read during the rally. The Driver's Protocol is both Welcome to NT49MD-20 and instructions we would normally have in a Driver's Meeting which is cancelled due to gathering prohibition. There are a few porta-pottys available near the Moraga Ave parking lot where we start (actually, pottys are at Sheridan & Arguello), but the normal restrooms are closed at the Presidio Visitor's Center due to construction. Other restrooms are available at Chrissy Field or eventually in Golden Gate Park (see route instructions). I do have some T-shirts and face masks available for purchase: $10 per shirt and & $5 per mask, cash or check. Since we are not "gathering", sales will be one purchaser at a time. Please realize that with just 50 shirts ordered, sizes are first-come, first-served. Remember, this is a car rally, not a prohibited "gathering", so please be sure to have fun but maintain safety from the Pandemic! NT49MD-20 Pete route & photo KEY checked 201206.pdf
