So I once owned a Fjord Blue 1976 2002. I sold it in the early 1990s and it was resold. The second buyer is looking to sell it and found me and asked if I would be interested. It is a near-total project. Some dents and rust on the body, but it's solid otherwise. Interior is a total gut and engine clearly needs work. A/C was removed so needs replacing (I live in Georgia!) He is asking a reasonable amount for the car, but I do not have any connections to a repair shop any more and cannot do the work myself. What sort of budget would I be looking at for a ground-up restoration. I am looking for a standard end-product without too many over the top customizations (standard wheels, showroom sort of look). It was rebuilt by Munich West in 1990, but I have no idea since then. Any ideas or recommendations?

1976 BMW 2002 Automatic. Forced to sell due to financial situations. Price is OBO. Interior is practically brand new save for the shifter housing. Dent in the rear fender. Ran when i bought it back in August, but upon fixing some things it starts but won’t drive. Driver seat taped up. Rear passenger tail light needs replaced. 46,000 miles! Make me an offer!

Hey everyone, I'm in desperate need of a kidney grille for a 1976 2002a. I thought I had a lead on one but it fell through and i'm hoping to get the car back to the customer by end of day Monday. I know i'm going out on a limb here but my only other option is to pull the one off my car, which i'm prepared to do but it's got a small dent in the upper/center of it and i'm hoping I can find one in better shape. Thanks!! Feel free to reply here or call/text me if it's easier - 425 219 7 7 7 1

I've had this car for nearly 15 years, and used it as my daily driver since than. It was, and is my first car, and is truly wonderful to drive. It's just come a time for me to let it go and get something a little bit newer.I have regularly maintained the vehicle over the course of ownership, and it currently runs great. It is in fair condition cosmetically. The price reflects this. There are scratches, dents, dings, tears in fabric, and some other quirky things that one would expect from a daily driver for a car this age. It is by no means a show car. The paint has some visible signs of age and oxidation, but is overall in good condition. Sunroof was fixed at some point, works great right now.Serious inquiries only, please.Service records available. Odometer reads 40k miles, but I'm certain it's rolled over and is 140k.$6,000 obo.

So, this is my first go at making a blog, posting on this site, and most importantly, my first go at taking a car down to nothing and building it back up (eventually). It is also my first BMW, and thus my first 2002. I have had a love affair with these cars since I saw one parked on the street in Minneapolis near my old apartment. I've always been into cars and have had a few, all of which I modded or worked on in some way. But as my first true tear-down and rebuild on a non-operational car, I figured this would be the time to document the process. I've been lurking and learning on this site and others for awhile, and I'm excited to finally contribute. My wife's uncle lives in central Illinois on an old farm and has 10 or 12 old euro's just collecting dust, mice and rot in and around a couple of free standing garages. After a couple years of asking, I finally caught him in a mood to sell and purchased the beauty you see below. She's a little rough, but the body's square and with very little rust past the surface - but I won't really know until I get it all apart. I got her shipped up to me on a flatbed and had some buddies help me roll her into the garage. It's been unseasonably warm in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area this week, so yesterday I spent a few hours in the garage taking stock of the situation and starting to disassemble. Got the hood and trunk lids and most of the trim off. Took off the front wheels so I could get to the inner nuts for the corners of the front bumper. So far I've just had one stuck bolt, but nothing else has been too much trouble. Hoping to do some more this week if it stays warm enough to work. Along with working on the car I'm hoping to heat and insulate my garage some time soon. And it appears that she was originally a maroon or deep red color. Someone did a pretty poor job of painting it white, but I guess I should be thankful, as it may have saved her from additional rust and corrosion. And my plan is to bring it back to bare metal, so whats a few rattle-can layers on top of everything else? Anyway. Pictures are what everyone wants, so here you go. I'll try to keep up with posting as I make progress, but it's going to be a long haul.

I think the differential is slipping or something. When I go around turns at regular speeds sometimes I hear a "clunk" noise. It feels like it's coming from the back left wheel. But it's hard to tell. I put the car on jacks to try and see the problem. But I'm really just a hack mechanic wannabe. So I have no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas?
