The 406 XPZ license plate means it came to California a few years later than new. I wonder where it spent its first few years of life? The original plate on 0007 was 360 EUX.

    Thanks, Tom,

Given it’s impressive originality, all we’d need is an original Service booklet or Owner’s handbook with a dealer’s stamp or an owner’s name...

Theoretically, a 49-state search (every state except for CA) might turn up a pre-CA registration.

I wonder how these first, and I’m guessing desirable, U.S. tii’s were distributed among Hoffman’s U.S. dealers? Was it based largely on the dealership’s BMW sales volume, giving the advantage to larger cities, predominantly coastal?

    Best regards,

    Steve
