My 1971 BMW 1600 Voll Cabriolet was imported from Belgium to California in 2004. I purchased the car from Laurens Manders of http://www.euroclassics.nl after seeing it on his website. The car had gone through a extensive restoration while in Europe, but was missing its original 1600 motor. The replacement motor was from a BMW 2000 Nue Klasse, but it spun a bearing soon after arriving in the US. I spent several years completely restoring the drivetrain, suspension and brake systems. It now features a 245 Getrag OD 5 speed, 2 liter high compression motor, 284 Cam, Weber 45 DCOE carb with Lynx manifold, shorty header, 123 Ignition Bluetooth distributor, front shock tower brace, 320i rear brakes, 320i LSD, Bilstein HD Shocks and Struts, ST Sway Bars and ST Sport Springs. I sold it last year to Stephen Knaup, and he sold it to Chris Reinhardt in Roslyn, New York. Chris is taking it to a higher level with some tasteful interior modifications.
