  1. Bump...it is the part behind the ignition tumbler (lock). Pulled it counter clockwise and attempted the reverse and it won't go back it. Any help is appreciated.
  2. I had one locksmith finally unjamm my ignition lock but while trying to put it back in I noticed the part right below it was not turning. I took it out and found a pin ( not sure where it came from) and now, can't put it back it in. I recall turning it counter clock wise to take it out but I'm on my 2nd hour trying to undo what I did. So what is the trick?
  3. mike,

Hope all is well. I'm trying to get the tumbler pin out of my ignition lock. Yesterday, a locksmith came out to unjam the stuck key and he couldn't do it and I am left with tapping or drilling the pin. Should the pin completely move inward and the tumbler will come out without any force or it needs to be hacked? From the image, does it look to you the tumbler has moved in

  4. My driver seat has the 2 spots for the right side rail to anchor broken off. Besides getting it welded, can I get away by anchoring it in the two middle holes if I can?

  6. Couldn't take out the #1 spark plug, everytime I try, some sandy grey matter kept on coming out. I was calling for the all Gods of cars begging to help me out. The car was last seriously driven in June of 2007. I've driven it less than a couple of miles at a time, an average of 10 times a year since then. It started running bad in the lower rpm and figured maybe it was bad fuel or clogged carb and cleaned it all out but didn't get any better. So I just went ahead and changed the plugs, I had new ones sitting. #1 was unreal, it was practically rusted glued on the head. It came out after 30min fighting and after bringing the big tools out. I cleaned the head, but I have no idea what made it go that way when it's not even being used. Any idea?
  7. In a hurry of just wanting to get rid of that remote servo brake system, I tore apart the pedal box/brake system. Plan is to go with the 320i master cylinder, keep the mechanical clutch. Can I use any of the later pedal boxes or has to be the specific one for the mechanical clutch? Is there anything else I should be on the look out for? I'm touching this car after 10 years just sitting, I'm hoping to start it before going back to work. TIA
  8. Nice tii, hope you are on this board. It was nice to see a good looking tii on a beautiful day. Left you a note.. Yes, Lakewood CA.
  9. Thanks Mike. I believe it was your article I read. I am just hung up on saving this thing as it is, but I guess might need to swap and get over it.
  10. A few years back, I wasn't at home and someone was told to move the car. Grabs the key ring with 10 or more 2002 keys on it and goes into the car not knowing which one was the right one. Well, it didn't go as planned, used the wrong key and the ignition turned half way and got stuck. Ever since then, I am using a screw driver after pulling the ignition unit behind the key. I've tried everything including nudging it, spraying key oil spray etc. For one, I don't know which key was used ( I still have the same sets of keys), I've sat for hours on end some days trying to figure it out. Is it a lost case where I have to get the steering assembly and get over it? or maybe a good locksmith can fix it? I know these cars are troublesome sometimes with the keys, I wonder if I should just give up and get an assembly. How should I approach it ? BTW, I've searched and read a good writing about it, but no good result yet.
  11. Hello All, I found an almost new E21 Radiator for my 1600, but it is the auto version. I know the manual is a semi-direct swap and have done it before. Is there a way to modify the automatic transmission version to fit a manual trans car? Can I plug those bottom holes and use them? I was hoping to do so. TIA
  12. My brother in law trying to help move the car used the wrong key in the ignition, turned it in 1/3 of the way and got stuck. It has been about 2 years like that trying to figure out what the heck I am supposed to do. The other week I tried lubing it and using the some of the keys i have ( I have no clue with one he used) to turn it back to the original spot. I have had no luck at all. Right now we are starting the car with a screw driver (i had to separate the solinoid from the key). Beside bringing in some key master and try to sort it out, what can I do ? thanks in advance
  13. Bill, Very sorry to hear about your loss. As a parent, I can't even imagine what you are going through. May God give strength to you and your family. Will remember you and your family in our prayers.
  14. I did put ATF/Oil in each cylinder, and yes meant to say crank the engine. I will look for the oil light indicator, and ofcouse the valve cover will be on there. I was planing on not using the gas tank, probably use a bottle for the gas. The carb for now will be just a cleaned up single barrel solex. Thanks for the reply.
  15. Hello Everyone, I had rescued this early '68 car about 4 years ago and didn't have time to look at it. It was kept in the deseret area here in So. Cal when I got it, unknown engine condition, with parts all over the place. Couple of days after I got it home, I poured AT fluid in the engine and left it at that. Last week, I added some oil through the plug inlet and turned the engine manualy and it moved alright. So, now I am ready to try starting it. I have read and re read the topics on this. But I would like to be cautious and outline what I am planning here. Please correct me if I am wrong: 1. Drain all fluids, fill with clean one 2. manually turn engine a couple of rounds 3. lube the valves with some grease or heavy oil 4.Start engine with the coil plug unplugged 4. make sure the oil sparyer bar sprays oil 5. Final check and start normally I have been dreaming of building a replica 1600ti with my son. Got some nice parts that I would like to use on this car. I can use some help on finding info in 1600ti's, including the specs that make these car different from others. Will update the board with my progress.
  16. If there is one person that can do the job, it's got to be Pete "the Coupe King " in San Pedro. He is something else, he must be our Don from the Werk Shop (Chicago) of So.Cal. I have seen some of his restorations and it goes beyond work, it is a work of art. Check out his site coupeking.com, or even better, call him up and stop by at the shop to see what is going on, he is very friendly too and fair on his prices. Other than that, couple of shops in the valley (not sure if Jack is still around, it is been a while here for me) Jack Fahuna @ Pro Bimmer, and there is one guy that is advertising on C.L down on Glenoaks, it is called Bavaria Auto Repair. Good luck
  17. Who is running this place very close to the Old 2002AD shop in Sun Valley? It is literaly 1 mi east of or even closer to the Old 2002 AD shop... anyone has info on it ? The photo shoot on craigslist are Ok, but the wording in some of the ads are skechy at best....
  18. Hello everyone... has anyone tallied how much an M42 conversion might cost? the way Jake does it... I know no one likes to think about how much these cars are money pits, but 6-7 K ? I am sure it has to be less much less than M2 conversion....
  19. Does anyone have these on ? they look interesting, might need fender rolling...
  20. thanks for the info. will I be better off with a carb? 32/36 or so ?
  21. Hello everyone, I got access to a complete E21 320is down to the Recaros and steering wheel with unknown condition engine and a sitting early 68 1600. I am searching for the engine swap (shouldn't be an issue including the 5 spd transmission). What are the pitfalls I should be aware of ? I would like to keep the fuel injection too. Instead of rebuilding the 1600, I am thinking of swapping everything out. The 1600 is a beater, I saved it because it was very cheap, figured one day something like this might happen. what do you all think ?
  22. Want to thank you ahead of time... I need to check on the BMW vehicle history for vin WBANN73566CN03057, 2006 530xiT. I am contemplating on buying this car. Any input will be great. It is 1 owner carfax certified, fully loaded wagon. Please help... if possible, e-mail pdf to sheggaw at verizon dot net Thanks again
  23. what is your e-mail ? how much are you looking for the engine ?
  24. The ad says : 1971 BMW 2000 series, runs, moon roof, fuel injected, all parts, project car... http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/2667113732.html Went and saw it yesterday, it is everything but the AD! It is a crusty 70-71 2002,. rust on lots of places, painted over what used to be a Colorado color. It is not a tii , pay attention...it is a regular 2002, some of the good parts missing (grille, lights etc) no parts in the trunk as far as I can tell and the lid is rusty at the usual places. Not worth the asking price. The good thing is that it is a sunroof car (which explains some of the rust), and has a very good roof that can possibly be transplanted. The vin on the steering wheel matches the VIN on fender. Not affiliated at all... just my opinion...
  25. There used to be a lady that looked like Dalia, with the same kind Inka roundie that park in front of little Tokyo library parking lot (2nd & Los Angeles, south off New Otani hotel). The car sure looks like the same one, where in DtLA was it ?
