    For all future viewers of this thread, let me close it out satisfactorily... rod bearings with part # 1150352001.3 did indeed fit on a standard size crank journal (48mm on the button). The tolerance with these old bearings across all four journals was between 0.025-0.038mm (plastigauge method used with no assembly lube during measurement, correctly torqued to 40 ft-lbs).
     
    The replacement bearings I ordered from FCPEuro (as listed above https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-engine-connecting-rod-bearing-set-320i-318i-2002-2002tii-1602-11241258428) are standard fit. I fit the new bearings, followed the same measurement procedure, and the tolerance across all four journals seems to be a little tighter to the 0.025mm end of the scale (to be expected) but still very much within spec.
