  1. If this will work on a us 73 (left hand hi low switch) then I would like to buy it.
  2. While I agree... I think this forum is organized in a very different way than most forums. Especially after internet brands bought what feels like 95 percent of everything. Those boards still have a wealth of info on them, but it's only organized by car model. Maybe there is a sticky thread with old defunct walk throughs at the top (with broken photo bucket links) but there isn't a actual walk through section you can browse. Or many will have links to websites with the specific info, but it's not actually organized and created on those forums as much. The closest thing to this I've used is Bullnose Forum WWW.GARYSGARAGEMAHAL.COM DEDICATED TO BEING THE WORLD'S BEST DOCUMENTATION WEBSITE AND DISCUSSION COMMUNITY FOR 1980-1986 FORD TRUCKS for bullnose fords. I kinda figured that the blog section was kinda like that and I didn't want to put build update spam in the actual fact area. That and the auto generated thread when I added my 02... I figured that was what it was for. Anyway, now I know.
  3. I don't know when to post there. Kinda figured those were for large projects with a vague air of authority. Where I just have a bunch of little ones that no one should replicate.
  4. That might make sense. I do have one original cap. Probably. Though The outside of the lip measures 70mm and the base of the lip where it meets the rest of the cylinder is 63.5. the 58 measurement doesn't make sense on my parts... Not that I trust Brattish parts consistency.
  5. The ones I bought are from mini mania, but they are weller caps measuring 63mm on the od. They probably need to be closer to 64, but I don't know which ones those are.
  6. Thanks to Seb I get to go from this 90's ace hardware Arizona hack job to actual self canceling turn signals. I still have some wiring to do. I got them working, but the washer isn't hooked up and there are a couple wires that fly out of the old harness to parts unknown. Plus the whole hi lo switch thing. Shouldn't be too hard, but it was 100 degrees and the house ac was throwing hot air at me. Also the hubcaps I ordered when I re finished my octavos finally came in... and they are a little small. Currently held in with aluminum duct tape as a shim. Someday I'll get that right, but this if the first time I've ever had 4 wheel caps. I also made Ireland engineering diagnose my car by photo... turns out I was missing the retention springs to keep the pads from making a racket. When I put it together years ago I never noticed as the car made so many other rattles, but after getting rid of 40 or 50 of those these finally got noticed.
  7. On the road again. I also took the opportunity to figure out the gas vent situation. I removed the rear canister, plugged the front vent and vented the filler neck to the outside like I read about on this forum. It's way better now. Should have done that when I first got it. Doesn't smell like a bomb anymore.
  8. Did my weekly drive last Thursday. Tire was flat on Friday. Tires were old and spent a lot of time in the sun before I got the car so I decided it was a good time to go for the c36's. As long as I need to take the tires off it's probably time to give the octavo's a refresh. They were well worn before I had them. Here is the state when I started. I don't know if these are mags, but they have some corrosion I couldn't clean or polish out with normal cleaning tools. These 185s are much wider than the perelli, I had issues with this one fender clearing them, but have since pulled it out a bit. Weird old car stuff. I had to get agressive to get into the corroded bits. Used stiff scotch bride pad on angle die grinder. I also sanded the lips and got about 90 percent of the curb rash out. I don't know how you curb all 4 13" wheels with 70 series tires. Must have been talented. Taped, I got it down to an hour per wheel... by the last wheel. Peeling tape is almost worth the hours masking. This was left over paint for my black xterra. Had exactly enough somehow. and a 2k clear coat Now I just need the paint to cure so I can get these guys mounted.
  9. Sorry, I haven't been to a mechanic in years this place has literally been handed down to another generation since I've been there, but Little Germany used to be okay. I think my uncle always went to Perfection. I have no personal experience there though. They are pretty close to each other.
  10. I remember when someone first mentioned it. I think I read it while looking for answers on the roadfly message board. It was obvious it would never work out.
  11. Patina! Till I find the time to paint. I don't mind driving around something with a little age on it as long as the rust is abated. Currently my 02 is 3rd in line. It's gonna be the 2nd coat Earl Shibe white with some taiga showing through for a bit longer.
  12. I let this go about 30 years too long. and it shredded on me coming back from the bank. as that was shredded I couldn't use the steering lock to get the nuts off the yokes. So I decided to swap on the reman steering box I've had for half a decade. Also threw all the parts small parts in the ultrasonic cleaner. Then I got to take a close look at what is actually going on with my switch gear... oh god I'll just ignore that. The lower cover is also all glued back together. I guess whenever it was in a accident it was shattered. And there we go, something I should have done years ago. Feels like a whole different car. Who knew the car was supposed to respond when you move the wheel? Of coarse I have a lift 4 miles away, but I'm to cheap to have it towed so I rolled around in the rain all day.
  13. I'm interested in the navy card if it's still available.
  14. Finally installed the used pads I bought from another member here. The seats have always been lumpy and every time you sit in them another lb of horse hair falls out. I found that whoever re did the seats just glued foam to the old covers and covered over the whole mess. They just took the seat tracks off and cut around the rest of the mechanisms. Just kinda weird. I also don't understand why they thought 1/4 of foam was going to help anything, it certainly doesn't 20 years later. I did manage to get the old covers over the ones I bought, but there is like way to much faberic there. I have a set of 90's recaros from a vehicross I think I'll use in the future. The mechanism and seat tracks are pretty beat up all the way around on the origianls. Still as of today I can't feel the springs anymore and that is a step forward. I also used a bit of emery cloth on every connection between the interior light and the fuse box. So this is the first time the light has ever worked.
  15. I'll just keep thinking about how well I made out by buying a slightly wrecked one as a parts car, taking the seats, and selling it for the same same 800 dollars I paid for it. I'm such a smart savvy dude.
  16. I bought a 2nd one to keep it company. The cheapest price was from a figurine shop in japan, even with shipping the exchange rate made it worth it. Just... uh... Yeah, japan. Kyosho Original 1/18 BTW. Really nicely detailed. Usually you see those race cars or turbo models, but my car doesn't look anything like those. This is a tii, but close enough.
  17. Maybe if you have it in the car. Storing it with coolant vs water. Yeah. Other than that though. I've never bought a new radiator and had to drain the coolant off it of despite it sitting in a parts house for 10 years.
  18. My seat has never really worked right. I have to hold myself in place with my legs at any comfortable distance from the steering wheel. When I went investigating I found that the drivers side slider and the passenger were the same. So somebody probably replaced a worn unit with the wrong one. I looked around a bit and only found a couple rusty examples on ebay. Finally found that ECS Tuning showed them to be in stock. Made my order in late june to be shipped july 8th. July rolled around and they send a email citing covid, putin, and general poor weather and said it was delayed. August rolled around and they send a similar email. I decided at that time to call and they said the part had shipped from their supplier and would ship to me once they got it. Finally august 12th rolls around and my order is canceled. Nobody has one. I don't hate ECS for that, the reasons they cited plus databases being dicks are all understandable. I just wanted to convey how fed up I was when I cut apart my seat rail and welded it back together backwards. Works great! Every week I get a little closer to it being a car I can let people drive without having to explain how to work around the broken bits. I feel like I've done nothing but work on weber progressives all my life. The pump was leaking all over the place. so I just cleaned it out and re sealed it with a parts kit. Still not sure where I want to go with the engine. Right now it's running well though so like the paint it will be left alone.
  19. It's my favorite security feature. (possibly, maybe, okay there is no real data do back this up just local news anchors pointing out specific cases because it's funny) Still, The kia boys will have to keep looking
  20. I ordered just the center section and though it took them a little bit it showed up in the mail with no issues. More than any other automotive community I've dealt with. This one seems obsessed with sending money uninsured via paypal to a random person a GeoCities looking website... it's worked 2/2 times for me though.
  21. There are things you can do to slow it down. Clean out any dirt behind panels that holds water next to the metal. Convert rust with ospho (try in a inconspicuous area to see how it reacts with the paint you happen to have). There are a number of recipes for trying to keep rust where it is on old truck/hot rod forums. Patina and whatnot. It's not my favorite subject and unless you convert the rust it's still going to be doing it's thing, it truly never sleeps. Also Try just not getting the car wet. Wash with as little water as possible, don't flood all the seams with a pressure hose. Not really possible if it's a daily.
  22. Drywall screw holding the trim on... Looks like the cars I buy. I don't pay much and even after I pay myself 0 dollars an hour the savings don't work out.
  23. Okay, I found out today I only need 3 more Pirelli tires. Can longstone find me 3 more cinturato p3's? Why.. why is the only original thing on my car the spare.
