  4. Thought would share a few photos of what has inspired me to rebuild my 02 to be similar to a 70s period racer Alpina look. When deciding on color of choice to paint my car I knew in my mind that it had to be an original BMW 2002 color that matched the year of the car and as soon as I saw the inka and black combination I just couldn’t get it out of my head! So that is what I’m going with! Have attached some photos of an 02 with this same color combination sourced from Stance Works and I have to say is one of my favorites and inspires me to get a wriggle on with mine and get the paint and panel sorted ASAP… Who else loves this paint combo? Also interested to hear from others if they have painted theirs this color combo or know of others that have, what black did they use? Was it the 02 Schwarz color or something else? My painter has suggested to either use the factory Schwarz color or even a PPG black which he has used for other cars in the past and highly recommends
  5. After having the car for not long at all, have joined several Facebook groups / pages and it has been great! Excellent community in Australia to chat everything 2002 and also worldwide! Thanks all for the advice provided so far and general chats about our cars! After sorting through what I have with the car there seems to only be a few things I needed to obtain to assist with the build. It has also been made apparent that a late model 02 nose panel has been fitted at some stage to my roundie and the car subsequently came with the black plastic grille and centre kidney to suit. I really want mine to be correct so luckily have come across a new centre nose panel section I can purchase and have retro fitted to my car when the paint and panel is sorted, lucky! Also have sourced an early model complete alloy grill which is on its way to me all the way from Portugal! Other parts I have purchased so far or am in the process of finalizing to purchase are as follows : - nos rear RH tail light lense - secondhand complete LH and RH tail light assemblies as the ones that came with my car aren’t great (lenses warped and faded and the housings are dented and chrome flaking) - boot liners (my car came with none and will most likely use these ones I’ve bought as templates to make new ones) - RH mirror gasket - Various rust repair sections - Two car manual books to assist with what goes where - New reflectors for the alloy grill - manual gearbox shifter knob Have attached a few photos of the parts I have sourced for reference. FYI if anyone is after a late model complete grille, I have advertised mine for sale as I won’t need and hopefully can be used by someone else in need Is in decent condition for its age, slight fading on the LH and RH grilles and a few dents on the centre kidney but to be expected being 45+ years old! Let me know if interested to see photos of the grille for sale etc
  6. Car arrived early morning with no issues over the journey! Managed to get it off of the trailer and back it slowly down my steep road, into my driveway and back into my shed with the help of a good mate, David. Thanks David 🙌🏻He is also a BMW enthusiast and currently owns two BMW e9’s. One he will restore and the other he may move on shortly. IMG_7353.mov Was pleasantly surprised with the car, as I had bought it purely off of seeing photos, a few videos and numerous phone calls and back and forth texts with the previous owner over the space of a week before I committed with a deposit, with COVID it was just too hard to fly up and see it In person, not to mention having a young family and working full time, time is just difficult! Everything that I was told would be included with the purchase was there and even more! This is my first ever BMW and excited for the challenges ahead for the restoration! I have attached a short video to show the car as it currently stands and what I’m up for in regards to the rebuild. Also some photos of the car parked up nicely in my garage begging me to start…
  7. It was a wet week in June which made me anxious as this was the day my 1972 BMW 2002 was beginning its journey from North QLD down to me in Marino, South Australia. I had booked Luke from Broady Express to bring it down to me and highly recommend his services! A friend of the guy I was buying the car from, Barry, was kindly bringing the car down to Nudgee to meet Luke and transfer over onto his open trailer. The car was full to the roof lining with parts, including a boot full of spares as well and also a pallet with a complete engine (running when removed few years ago and still turns over freely). Previous owner had covered with an old car cover and sealed the pallet with clear wrap so fingers and toes were crossed it stayed water tight over the 2500+ kms of travel! Here it is ready to start its journey
