Oh my, sorry about your loss Nick. I am hoping to save mine.

Not 02 related, but still painful. My poor Bavaria. We had a bad storm roll through late Thursday night, winds took out the tops of my trees, set a large limb down across the top of my 73 Bavaria, banged it up pretty bad. Going to start tomorrow morning to see what it is going to take to get fixed, put a new windshield put in. It's a rust bucket but the engine is solid and she runs great. Have had the car for over 30 years.

I need an 02 in every color!

@02Les, what did it sell for back in 16? Is there a link? How you know this I can only guess. You track sales over the years? Very impressive if so. @bavariaboy, I have read and been told Schwarz is rare but don't really know. Looking through years of auctions and ads, I can say that I can't recall ever seeing an original Schwarz (outside my own), they have all been resprays.

My 74, VIN 2781801, is an original Schwarz. Love the black, goes great with the diving boards! Not sure the reserve but looks well maintained, garage kept. I need another 02 for a daily driver.

I have learned a lot from the BaT comments, will make a few sometimes. I wish I had more money to bid, buy these cars, don't we all. My dream would a shot like @BarneyT put up of his driveway filled with 02's.

He says in the details "I really hope that someone would keep the livery on this car as it is what people appreciate the most." I am thinking, yeah, no. I am an originalist and tend towards the unmodified, but this is one of the strangest things I have seen someone do to one of these cars.

Thanks Steve, I missed that. Of course, mine has around 236k miles so perhaps it’s all perspective. Cheers

I think the fact that the description in ICON called it the “rarest of the rare” maybe had a little bit to do with it. Original though not perfect and low miles probably didn’t hurt either. Hey, however people want to spend their money. My family and friends thought I was nuts for spending a lot for my tii. One of the best purchases I ever made.

Congratulations on your purchase @lewisfoto. Nice pick-up, enjoy.

Thanks Mike, good advice, appreciate it. The FAQ community here has been great, really friendly folks who are happy to help, and very willing to share their knowledge and passion for these cars. Have really enjoyed being a member. Cheers!

Thanks lewisfoto. A few months back when I was in the market I saw a 73tii on BHCC that caught my eye until my mechanic ran down a long list of problems he thought lurking just looking at the photos. I am not that expert nor a gear head so I have been trying to learn as much as possible, pick the brains of the experts here. Thanks again. Cheers, Charles

Thanks NYNick, appreciate the insight. Some of the cars I have seen on there seem a little sketchy so the comments had me wondering. I just bought a 74tii back in February of this year so I probably won't be in the market to buy another 02 for a couple of years but I am constantly looking and hey you never know I suppose if the right one comes along at the right price. I would really like to have a roundie one of these days. What car of yours is available? Thanks again.

I have seen a number of comments from people throwing shade on the Beverly Hills Car Club. They always seem to have multiple 02 listings on Hemmings and Classic Autotrader but the comments I have seen have made me a little wary of every thinking of dealing with them. Are they not a reputable outfit? Any insight on this outfit? Thanks

Description:https://www.2002ad.com/pages/carsforsale.cfm. Many of you here may be familiar with this site but it is the first time I have ever run across it. There looks to be 7 or 8 02's, tii's and turbos available for sale, different years and varying condition.
-
I will admit that I probably cannot swap out the guibo on my 02, but I did and still do change my own oil. No one would mistake me for a mechanic though so I like to trust my tii those that know what they are doing. Be that as it may, I have never had more fun and pleasure than driving my 76 02 in my youth and my 74 tii today. Cheers!

That’s too bad, will keep on the lookout. Left coast guys may be better placed. Good luck with your search.

Code, I am always looking at what's out there for sale even though I can't afford another 02 right now (someday). In any case, I am no expert nor mechanic, but this one checks some of your boxes: https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1972/bmw/2002/101544831. Good luck with your search. Hope you find one that's a fit! Cheers, Charles

I have e21 Recaros from Aardvark in my 74tii that were put in along with new door cards and back seat. The car came with the original leather seats which I am looking to have redone and put back in. I can't let go of them now, but once the old seats are redone I have on interest in holding onto the Recaros. Don't know what they are worth or would fetch. Can anyone give me a ballpark number?

Thank Rob, a great read as always. I just ordered Best of the Hack and can't wait to start reading. I have a 74 tii that has a Behr system. It seems to operate but isn't blowing cold. The PO said he never even turned the AC on in his 13 years of owning the car. I am looking to get it operating again but I am no mechanic. Have no idea what I am walking into, $$.

Beautiful car. Good luck, hope it finds a good home.

It's the only way I would ever be able to own one!

@bavariaboy, stupid me had just liability no comprehensive so the repairs are totally on my nickel! The car is a rust bucket that hardly ever got driven, but never figured a tree landing on it. Lesson learned. I spent a few thousand in 2017 to get the car back on the road so in for a penny, in for a pound I guess at this point. I am going to try the fix @pierre² suggests, see if I can get the windshield fix, drive it with lumps in the roof. Thankfully my tii made it through the storm safe and secure in the garage.
