  1. I am building a conservative restomod..so purists please indulge me..just asking opinion…you see with the headlight mod I did, thinking about the 7” Hella black series…which is well…black…looks pretty cool though and is white of course when lit…mounted adjacent to what I have now OR change back to a clear headlight with matching clear driving lights Hella 500. I don’t think a clear driving light or vintage driving light works with the head light I have now so asking. Any opinion is appreciated.
  2. Subscribed. I did the same research last winter and now I am having a new one built while I chip away at my laundry list of other tasks to repair/ replace on the car in my garage. My M10 had two or three leaks in it…ran ok mind you…but found the car was simply flat..needed some life…so got started the process as you did and in the end found someone I trust to build me a new motor. 292 Cam - programable ignition- header - light weight fly wheel and pulley….along with a newly machined head/ block. I wish I could offer details to the block/ head work done other than to say I learned a lot talking about it with the mechanic - accepted the “might as well while your at it” adage by/ and taking no short cuts. That link above from AceAndrew is excellent to get you thinking about what to do…but my takeaway when I read it last year resulted in what I am doing now. Good thing I’ve put my kid’s through university already….$$ ? Your car looks great…
  3. In shopping for exhaust, check out Supersprint out of Italy. It really sounds just right….0 drone ….and beautifully made - price didn’t offend me…fit perfectly.
  4. What model is this Barney? Where can I get them? I like the details to the glass and backside chrome. Just bought some chrome mounting hardware - these would look great…
  5. I like the look of the lights mounted adjacent (close) to the headlights. Can anyone suggest or show a photo of mounting hardware that would bolt to the bumper mounts? In a perfect set up, a mount that would have some flexibility to left/ right AMD up/down - even an inch or so….on those triangular frames would be ideal. Any ideas?
  6. I must be missing some goofy thing, I will report back after I change the two switches.
  7. Great thread. TurboPR..would love to see a couple more pictures of your car. After finishing the restomod on mine….sort of tinkering with the idea of building a flared fender track focused car…that would look as good as yours. I bought mine two years ago to go along that theme but when it got to me from California, it was too pretty to take away from it’s original condition so left it. Your car looks great. Barney, I really like your (both) set ups. Could you give us details on how / where you mounted those - maybe a picture of the brackets and where you sourced them. I was looking at my ‘ not so pretty’ bumper mounts as an opportunity to mount them offsetting the bracket to align the lights where I like the,..
  8. The buzzer shown in this diagram isn’t the same relay/ buzzer that serves the seat belt warning light is it? And secondly- that ignition lock…if that has been disconnected- will the door circuit still work if it was grounded properly ? I ordered two switches which should arrive this week so I am thinking this through…but the switches coming are the same as the three spade driver’s side is not available…so I was advised to make a pigtail on the driver’s side to feed the passenger . I don’t think my wire(s) is broken only because I have been crawling underneath that dash and put in new carpet over three weekends and don’t want to undo any work?.
  9. I am very surprised this car hasn’t sold.
  10. Thanks to you both…so if I don’t have 12v at either switch - do I assume the wire between the dome and driver’s side plunger is broken given I have 12 v at the light? I don’t have 12 v on either side and I am assuming the passenger side is fed from the driver’s side…
  11. My dome light works when in ‘ON’ position and I do have 12v to ground in the ‘Door Open’ position…but I don’t have 12 volts at either door switch. In removing the driver’s side, the thing snapped in half - but passenger side ok. I will replace both switches while I am at it but my questions are 1. is there another test I can do to trouble shoot if the wire is broken. The spades (two on driver’s door and one on passenger) are all snug to the conductors and either of them don’t sound/ feel broken and 2. Can someone confirm that the wire drops from the dome light to the drivers side then feeds over to the passenger or vice versa because I can’t get voltage on either switch?? thanks for reading.
  12. There is a very helpful article in the tech section to repair odometers which I used to repair mine - worked brilliantly- only problem being now two of my numbers are slightly out of alignment. Is there a simple fix to align the numbers or do I have to repeat the entire process again…which isn’t the end of the world I guess other than the shaft I punched is nicely set and taking it out again with the finishing nail will be far more difficult this time…and my stubby fingers may not improve on what I have… Thanks for reading.
  13. This was a great article…..Everything appears to have gone ok except now my numbers fell slightly out of alignment - tripometer ok - odometer two numbers are buggered. Any ideas to align them without repeating the entire performance?
  14. Hello all. Took my bezels/ gauges out to clean today..and hopefully align something to make my odometer start to work again…and after searching here, it appears the links to some repair ideas to get odometer moving are now stale. Could anyone post ideas to try again? Speedo works and you could see the trip odometer ‘trying’ labouring to work before I stored the car but doesn’t consistently turn. I wanted to get all cleaned, changing all light bulbs….and fix odo. Any ideas-to get that odometer moving again?
  15. To John in VA’s point, I just took delivery a set of seat covers with basket weave centre from World Upholstery for my 1973 that I am very happy with. Prior to ordering, they sent me colour samples (leather) and a brochure ( for vinyl ) and between the two got a perfect match. Service friendly and knowledgeable.
  16. Thank you all. This is precisely the information I was after.
  17. I am running 205/50 15s all around. I did see a nice photo of a car (was on 16s mind you) but he had 7” - 195/45 f 7” and 8” - 215/40r and if I added a spacer on the rear to push it outboard a hair I could mimic the wider rear. Would the 195 and 215 fit on a 6” wheel? Basically trying to get to as close as that look with 4 - 6” w 15” wheels should have been my question.
  18. Sorry for the continued questions…trying to keep part orders ahead of the many projects underway on my car…but this one is an opinion - aesthetic question. I always like the look of Alpina wheels and particularly vehicles are slightly lowered and where the rear was wider than the front. I bought some Ronal replicas from Roger which I am very happy with but it is a square set up (15 by 6” ET 29)…as the 7” are unavailable. Can anyone suggest a tire and (rear) spacer set up to simulate the more (conservative aggressive) look I am after…? As you can see here on my car, the front is really nice yet to me, the rear could look come out some…but would like to do with a small spacer and wider tire. Any pictures/ suggestions would be appreciated if on your car.
  19. I did a search yet need to ask…. and I think this tubing is redundant…think. I have been busy this week removing my old carpet prepping for Esty’s…then while carpet out, wired a Retrosound radio - amplifier and subwoofer with four speakers. The rears are on the parcel shelf and the fronts are from Kooglewerks to be mounted in the kick space (not on door panels) ….and will look great. Anyway, wired everything today and did a test before I start putting the interior back together - and the car audio sounds amazing - carpets now tomorrow. In my rooting around under the dash, I came across this rigid plastic pipe (which I pulled off the firewall and took picture attached)…about 3/8 in diameter and I don’t know what it is for. I searched on FAQ and it might be for some venting before the changeover on my car? Anyway …the previous owner of my car swapped in a motor out of a 318 c/w five speed and electronics ignition some time ago. Also…gas tank has been changed in the last three years. Car doesn’t smell like gas . Was this the brake reservoir tubing from engine- through car - then to trunk ?
