  1. Yep, I had to make custom slot-ins and another custom gasket to make it work. The carbs sing so well through the trumpets !
  2. Love these stacks ! I'm happy someone else found them, too !
  3. Dual 40s on a stock motor ( mild cam ). Runs fantastic now. Progression circuit was a fun learning experience. Can't stop grinning when driving ! and the sound...!
  4. Go for the duals ! It's fun to learn and you only live once !
  5. Welcome ! As a fellow '72 owner you will have fun ! Start with the brakes ! Make it stop before it goes too fast ! Dual webers are fun , too ! Listen to the big boys on here; they've seen it all !
  6. I joined the cut your springs club !! Maybe a half inch more...
  7. Thanks IE ! Happy to see others with the passion ! Double-double hit the spot !!
  8. Installed Blaupunkt bluetooth amp today ! Music from phone and discovered that it works for handsfree calls as well ! Hidden under dash. Only 85 bucks !
  9. Brick mount ? I don't trust the valve cover bolts either.
  10. Just ordered the W & N rad ! $465 delivered. SoCal does get warm in traffic !
  11. Just put the dashtop on. It'll work !!
  12. Thank You ! I was looking for a way to hide the cracked dash ! Just purchased, although price has increased since last year !
  13. I purchased the same setup from TEP. Do what Toby said - just bend it a little ! I did end up purchasing Hal's linkage...WAY better !! Worth the money !
  14. Another fuel gauge pegged full. Another problem solved by adding another ground wire to instrument cluster !
  15. I caught the dual 40 bug as well ! I guess I got lucky , I just bolted them in and adjusted air/ fuel mix as directed and haven't had problems. The idle was the only thing that gave me trouble until I got Hal's linkage. Get the squirrel cage...
  16. No sticker, no burn marks. Volt meter pulses between 10v and 3v when cranking so, I am leaning towards a coil problem. I have a red bosch . Car ran strong for weeks after dual carbs installed. No spark at plug when bench test.
  17. two carbs update : SO MUCH FUN !! the sound, the acceleration, the looks from the gearheads...did I mention the sound ? So, driving yesterday, the engine popped and died. Will not restart. Got lots of fuel to carbs. Is Petronix fried ? No spark at plug. Dizz was hot, possible problem ?
  18. You guys have convinced me to ditch the soft mounts. I have paper gaskets but, the choke housing will not clear the manifold ( seems like I just read that somewhere ). I have choke block off plates coming as I cannot find the phenolic spacers ! Where to find that nifty set you just posted Halboyles ?
  19. Balance adjustment mechanism ? Huh ? What am I looking for in the progression holes ? In your pic it looks like the edge of the butterfly plate thru the top hole. Thanks !
  20. Well, blocked booster line with no change to idle. I removed rear carb to check o-rings for cracks or misalignments. When I reinstalled the idle got better. Maybe I tightened carb too tight ? Car will idle rough around 1000rpm but revs strong after that. Front carbs pull about 7kg on the syncro , rear carbs about 4kg so they are getting closer ! Should I mess with the air bypass screws get the numbers matching or just use the idle mix screws ?
  21. Starter works, new Bosch sr71x ! Now, engine fired up instantly but rough idle. Air mix screws change idle on front carb; back carb does nothing. I suspect vacuum leak but can't find one. Brake booster line perhaps ? Front carb pulls 8kg on synchrometer, back carb pulls 3kg. Booster goes into #3
  22. My 2 cents: Do the duals ! Fun stuff ! Now where is that vacuum leak ?
  23. Whoops, info not completely correct. Starter #3 turned but didn't engage gear. That was a bad starter. Starters #2 and #3 were O'reilly. It was the weekend and was all I could get !
  24. Block to chassis ground cleaned and shiny. Wire gauge is same for pos and neg. Car is a 72 and don't believe it was auto. Seat belt clips to a metal ring behind E-brake lever. I don't see any wires to indicate a seat belt kill switch... New coil and dist was installed with the carbs but that shouldn't interfere with starter turning...
